Seven Longhorns named All-SEC, including first-teamers Kelvin Banks and Jahdae Barron

Banks was one of the four offensive linemen added to the first team while Barron was one of four defensive backs on the top squad.
Banks, a junior from Humble (Texas) Summer Creek, adds first-team All-SEC honors to a resume that includes a first-team All-Big 12 and second-team All-American selection in 2023, and freshman All-American and second-team All Big 12 honors in 2022. A likely first round pick, Banks has been a constant presence on Quinn Ewers’ blindside over the course of the past three seasons and could become the first Longhorn offensive lineman taken in the first round of the NFL Draft in over two decades. He could also make it back-to-back Outland Trophy winners for the Longhorns if he can follow up with the award after T’Vondre Sweat took it home in 2023.
Barron, a senior from Pflugerville (Texas) Connally, is on the brink of winning the Jim Thorpe Award for the third time in program history. He was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2023 and an All-Big 12 honorable mention in 2022. The heart and soul of the Longhorn defense, Barron has 47 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, one fumble recovery, and a team-leading five interceptions in 2024.
Texas had five other players earn all-conference honors. Quinn Ewers was named the second-team All-SEC quarterback, and Gunnar Helm was the second-team tight end. On defense, linebacker Anthony Hill earned second-team honors. This year, Ewers is 233-352 for 2665 yards and 25 touchdowns over nine interceptions. He’s also added one rushing touchdown. Helm has 49 catches for 611 yards and five touchdowns. The 49 receptions are most on the team, while his yardage and touchdown total is second behind Matthew Golden.
Hill, the starting middle linebacker for the Longhorns, has a team high 90 tackles with 16 for loss and 7.5 sacks.
Running back Quintrevion Wisner and defensive back Andrew Mukuba earned third-team honors.
The SEC individual award winners will be released Wednesday and the All-Freshman Team will be announced Thursday.
