Cojoe, a third-year sophomore from Mansfield Timberview, was in competition to be the Longhorns’ starter at right tackle.
“Yeah, it’s definitely going to be a camp battle for sure,” Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood said last week. “We’ve got a couple of guys who have been playing there in the spring in Andre Cojoe and Brandon Baker who have done a really nice job. Both of those guys have changed their bodies, improved their skill sets. We’ll figure out in training camp how that all plays out, but I think one of the advantages we have is we’re going to play against a really talented EDGE group in training camp. I think these guys are going to get challenged on a day-to-day basis. I know it’s going to come fast, but right now we’re at the beginning of it. Both guys are going to go out and compete and we’ll see how it plays out through training camp.”
Cojoe played against Colorado State, UTSA, ULM, and Florida last season.
With Cojoe likely out for the year, true freshman Nick Brooks becomes even more important to the Longhorns’ efforts. He steps in as Texas’ likely third offensive tackle behind left tackle Trevor Goosby and right tackle Brandon Baker.

Baker had drawn positive reviews over the weekend.
“‘Brandon Baker getting more comfortable by the day,'” IT wrote earlier on Monday, quoting a source. “Coaches are gaining more trust in him. ‘He can be pretty good this year.'”
Cojoe was ranked as the No. 732 overall prospect, the No. 70 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 118 player in Texas in the 2023 Rivals Industry Ranking. On3 ranked Cojoe as the No. 110 interior offensive lineman and the No. 207 player in Texas.
