Steve Sarkisian on Arch Manning, who is in concussion protocol: "We'll have more information as the week goes"

Texas quarterback Arch Manning left the Longhorns’ recent win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs after taking a hard hit in overtime that saw his head slam against the turf. On Saturday night, Inside Texas had the latest intel on Manning’s condition. On Monday, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian provided an update on his starting quarterback.

“He did not (practice),” Sarkisian said Monday. “He’s in (concussion) protocol right now. We’ll have more information as the week goes.”
Prior to leaving, Manning was 29-for-46 for 346 yards with three touchdowns, one interception, and a rushing touchdown. This season, he’s 143-for-235 for 1795 yards with 15 touchdowns, six interceptions, and six rushing touchdowns.
Manning was replaced by Matthew Caldwell, who was 1-for-1 for 10 yards and the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime to Emmett Mosley V. This year in backup duty, Caldwell is 8-for-11 for 85 yards and one score. He played in Texas’ three Group of Six games and made single passes at Florida and at Mississippi State.
