Steve Sarkisian provides updates on several injured Longhorns following bye week

After over two months of football in the form of training camp, practice, and six games, the Texas Longhorns enjoyed a much-needed bye week over the weekend. Several players nursing injuries or ailments were able to heal up, and Steve Sarkisian provided updates on those players during his Monday press conference.

The injured players of note were center Jake Majors, tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders, guard Cole Hutson, cornerback Ryan Watts, and safety Jalen Catalon.
“All of the guys practiced today,” Sarkisian said. “I think that’s probably the first part that’s really positive. Last week we really limited a lot of guys. We limited Jake to all about nothing. We limited JT to all about nothing. We limited Ryan to all about nothing. We really wanted to try and get them healthy. Today we came back and everybody practiced. Probably the most limited of the group was Cole Hutson, but they all practiced.
“As the week goes on, I’m going to have to make that decision later in the week of who is ready to play. To be fair to them, I’ll give them that chance to really practice on Tuesday and Wednesday in our physical practices to make sure they’re in a position to perform and do it at a high level.

“I was encouraged they were out there going, but as the week goes on I’ll have a cleaner update of who is going to be available Saturday. Today was a really good sign.”
Texas returns to action this Saturday against the Houston Cougars at TDECU Stadium. Kickoff time is schedule for 3 p.m. and the game will air on FS1.
