The Longhorns did not receive a first-place vote in this week’s poll after receiving the majority in the preseason. Ohio State led with 55, with No. 2 Penn State receiving five votes, No. 3 LSU receiving two, No. 4 Miami receiving three, and No. 6 Oregon receiving one. No. 5 Georgia did not receive any.

Looking ahead, Texas will face some of the top teams in the nation. Their first SEC matchup of the year will be at Florida, who fell out of the top 25 last week after a home loss to USF. They followed it with a loss to No. 9 LSU this week. They did not receive any votes in this week’s poll. The Longhorns will then face No. 11 Oklahoma a week later in the Red River Rivalry, which jumped two spots this week.

Georgia and Texas A&M also find themselves in the top 25, with the Bulldogs sitting at No. 5 after a big win at Tennessee this weekend. Texas A&M now sits at No. 10 after a statement win over Notre Dame on Saturday. The Aggies jumped six spots from Week 3.

The Top 25 includes several other SEC teams, including a run of No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 14 Alabama, and No. 15 Tennessee, who didn’t move a spot after their loss to Georgia. Vanderbilt also jumped to No. 20 after previously being unranked, while Auburn and Missouri crept up to No. 22 and No. 23, respectively. Texas will face the Commodores at the beginning of Novemeber.

Texas was ranked as the No. 7 team in the coaches poll, the same position as last week’s.
