Like in college basketball, the results of the tournament play a heavy role in final rankings. The Longhorns entered the tournament ranked No. 4 according to D1 and carrying the No. 2 overall seed. Because of the regional final loss to the Roadrunners, Texas was slotted as the first team outside of the top 16.

National champion LSU was No. 1 with runner-up Coastal Carolina slotting in at No. 2.

SEC teams in the final top 25 included No. 1 LSU, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 11 Auburn, No. 12 Tennessee, No. 17 Texas, No. 18 Vanderbilt, No. 19 Georgia, and No. 21 Ole Miss. Florida and Alabama dropped out of the final top 25.
