Texas football looks the way Steve Sarkisian wants it to look in all three phases
Over the weekend, Joe Cook wrote an article about it being year three in defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski’s system for Texas players.

It was a good piece filled with quotes from Jahdae Barron about the value of consistent teaching.
Well, let’s keep this fact also in mind.
It’s also year three for Steve Sarkisian’s offensive system and Jeff Banks’ special teams units.
The point?
Even though Gary Patterson tweaked a little bit of the back-end coverage last season for the defense, the Horns officially have a three-year run of consistent teaching on both sides of the ball and special teams.
That consistency is rare these days. With the exception of Kansas, no other team in the Big 12 besides Texas has had it.

What’s more, both Texas and Kansas showed significant improvement from year 1 to year 2 under their coaching staffs.
The Longhorns coaches have also had ample time to address the type of players they want and need to make their systems run, and they’ve added many of those players to the roster. No, the talent level is still not ideal (and it may never be), but it is much better and more fit for the job than when they started.
As the spring game approaches, we are one more step closer to seeing exactly what Steve Sarkisian’s grand plan is for this program, from offense to defense and to special teams.
