Texas football roster countdown: Nos. 54-50

It’s not so far away, is it? Texas is just 50 days out from the beginning of the 2025 CFB season, where the Longhorns will head to Columbus, Ohio, to face the Ohio State Buckeyes in week 1. In that preparation, we’re checking in on every Longhorn grouped by jersey number. Up next is Nos. 54-50.

No. 54 – Cole Hutson
2025 is set to be a big year for the rising senior interior offensive lineman. Hutson was just the 29th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2022 class, but still played over 750 snaps as a freshman in 2022, helping block for Bijan Robinson as the starting right guard.
Hutson took a step back in 2023, played in rotation in 2024 and is now set to be the team’s center in 2025. Hutson will replace a Longhorn legend, Texas’ all-time leader in starts Jake Majors, but has been working as a backup option at the position for multiple years now. Now entering his fourth year, Hutson, alongside another player on this list, is expected to be a leader of this young and unproven offensive line.
No. 53
Not yet issued. This number was worn by current Vanderbilt Commodore DT Aaron Bryant last year.

No. 52 – DJ Campbell
Campbell is the sole returning starter on this year’s offensive line, having now spent two seasons as the team’s first-choice right guard. Offensive line coach Kyle Flood let Campbell and Hutson rotate last season, but Campbell played over double the snaps of his low-50s counterpart.
Campbell has been reported as an expected riser this whole offseason. Just today, our own Eric Nahlin reported on Campbell’s improvement in the weight room and attention to routine, something that pleases Strength and Conditioning Coach Torre Becton. Expect Campbell to be the best interior player on this Texas team and a potential day-two NFL pick.
No. 51 – Marshall Landwehr
Landwehr is a fifth-year walk-on who has played in 15 games over his career, 13 of which came in 2024. Landwehr totaled six tackles in 2024 and is one of Texas’ special teams linebackers.

No. 51 – Daniel Cruz
Wrapping up Texas’ offensive lineman in the low 50s is Daniel Cruz. Cruz was a low four-star IOL in the 2024 class, now entering his redshirt freshman year in Austin. He saw zero game action in 2024, but he has a bright future ahead of him in Austin. Cruz is currently C3 on the depth chart and is expected to compete with Connor Robertson for the starting spot in 2026.
