Texas is hosting Scotty Walden and the UTEP Miners (1-1) on Saturday from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. And there’ll be a ton of former Texas High School football players on the other side of the field this weekend. Here’s a look at the in-state products in El Paso.

Texas was in contact with a few of the players on the Miners roster at one time or another over the course of their recruitments. Linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner (SOC) camped, took an unofficial visit to Texas, wide receiver and East Texas native Jaylan Brown (Nacogdoches) was on the radar briefly before committing to Michigan State, Desoto’s Chace Biddle was another target on the Horns’ big board, Darnell Williams was a move-in from Mississippi to Texarkana (Texas High) that the Horns knew about, and linebackers Kane Bowen (Sherman) and Copelin Windfont (Crosby) both took multiple visits to Austin for camps and Saturday gamedays.

Walden made his hay in Marshall, Texas, years ago. He was the head coach at ETBU (East Texas Baptist) and had one of the most prolific offenses in all of college football before taking the head coaching job at Austin Peay.
