Louisiana is familiar territory for the Texas Longhorns during Steve Sarkisian‘s tenure. The Horns already have a commitment from The Boot in cornerback Hayward Howard from New Orleans. This time Texas went to the top of the state for Monroe’s Dylan Berymon.

Berymon, a 6-foot-2, 320 pound defensive tackle, gives Texas coach Kenny Baker his first commitment of the class after a strong first cycle on the 40 Acres. Despite doing well in 2025 and in the most recent portal windows, D-tackle remains a big need for the Horns. One more good class and the room should be set for the foreseeable future.

Long-term, Berymon has the look of an anchor at nose who does his dirty work clogging up the run game. He plays with a strong base and is able to get good upfield push.

IT believed Texas was the leader for months, though the Purdue Boilermakers, thanks to pre-existing relationships, made genuine in-roads in recent days and may have even pulled ahead for a short time. In the end, Berymon made the same choice former Boilermaker defensive tackle, and likely 2025 Texas starter Cole Brevard made.

If Berymon and Howard follow through and sign with Texas, they’ll join Arch Manning, Derek Williams, Wardell Mack, and Will Randle

Berymon is ranked as the No. 172 overall prospect, the No. 19 defensive lineman, and the No. 8 player in Louisiana in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Berymon as the No. 44 defensive lineman and the No. 15 player in Louisiana.
