Texas projected to win the 2025 SEC Championship in the league's preseason poll

Ahead of its second season in the league, Texas was predicted to win the 2025 SEC Championship and is atop the conference’s preseason media poll. The Longhorns were the projected champions on 96 of 204 ballots.

Texas and Georgia were one-two in the predicted order of finish, with the Longhorns nabbing 3060 points to the Bulldogs’ 2957. The media’s predicted order of finish was…

The Longhorns received almost half of the first-place votes, with Georgia just behind at 44 votes. Alabama was third with 29 votes. LSU followed in fourth place with 20 votes. No other team received more than 10 first place votes.

Only 10 times since 1992 (33 years) has the predicted champion prior to the season at SEC Media Days proceeded to win the SEC Championship Game, according to the league.

The SEC Championship will be on December 6 in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Georgia, the 2024 SEC champion, was picked first in the 2024 preseason poll ahead of second-place Texas. The Bulldogs defeated the Longhorns in overtime.
