The senior punter from Bendigo, Australia, boomed four punts for 185 yards (46.2 avg) and pinned the Buckeyes inside their 10-yard line three times. A transfer from Utah, Bouwmeester had two punts go for 52 yards.
Seeing his first game action as a Longhorn, Bouwmeester booted a 39-yard punt in the first quarter that resulted in a fair catch at the OSU 8-yard line. At the end of Texas’ next drive in the first quarter, Bouwmeester kicked a 52-yard punt that resulted in another fair catch by the Buckeyes, this time at their own 20-yard line. At the beginning of the second quarter, Bouwmeester connected on his second 52-yard punt of the game that pinned Ohio State at its own 2-yard line. For his final punt of the day, Bouwmeester booted a 42-yarder in the second quarter that rolled out of bounds at the OSU 3-yard line.
Prior to the season, Bouwmeester was tabbed to the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list for the second-consecutive year and was named a semifinalist for the award in 2023. He was also named preseason Second-Team All-SEC by the league’s coaches in August.
