The New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman product helped spark an epic comeback in Texas’ 45-38 overtime victory at Mississippi State on Oct. 25, erasing a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter. The 17-point comeback ties for the seventh-largest comeback in program history.

Manning completed a career-high 29 passes on 46 attempts (63.0%) for a career-high 346 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for a touchdown in Texas’ 45-38 overtime win on the road at Mississippi State. Manning led the Longhorns’ rally from twice being down by 17 points, including with 26 seconds left in the third quarter and 12:29 to go in the fourth quarter. In both instances, Manning and the Longhorns answered with touchdown drives to get back within 10 points. Manning connected with wide receiver Ryan Wingo for three passes of 45-plus yards, including a 60-yarder on the opening offensive play of the game, and later a 47-yarder and a 62-yarder. With three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, it marks the third game this season and fourth of his career Manning has accounted for at least four touchdowns. It is also the third time this season and fourth of his career he has had at least three passing touchdowns in a game. Manning has now had three 300-yard passing games in his career. For the season, Manning is 143-of-235 (60.9%) for 1,795 yards and 15 touchdowns, while rushing for 199 yards and six touchdowns. Manning’s 126 points responsible for rank fourth in the SEC and 14th nationally, while his 15.8 points responsible for per game are also fourth in the SEC and 20th nationally.
