Texas volleyball faces Wisconsin for a spot in the Final Four
After Texas’ 3-0 sweep of Indiana on Friday, the Longhorns will face Wisconsin for a spot in the Final Four on Sunday. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Here’s what Josh Florey wrote on Friday ahead of the first games of the weekend.
Texas got by Wisconsin early as well, but the Badgers have been able to go toe to toe with top teams, and would have to beat another top team to even play Texas. They have three All-Big Ten first teamers: Mimi Colyer, Carter Booth, and Charlie Fuerbringer. They’ve beaten teams like Indiana, Minnesota, and Purdue.
Stanford is probably the tougher matchup of the two, but neither team is an easy out regardless.
Texas also has home court advantage in these games, giving them the slight edge they may need to make the Final Four.
Against the Cardinal, the Badgers prevailed 3-1. Colyer logged 27 kills followed by Booth with 14. Booth also had two blocks. Fuebringer tallied 61 assists. Una Vajagic led UW with 11 digs.
In their early season matchup in Madison in August, Texas won 3-0 in a match where the most competitive third of the contest was a 29-27 opening set. Cari Spears logged 11 kills followed by 10 from Abby Vander Wal. Emma Halter had 14 digs while Ramsey Gary had 10.
