The Inside Texas Player Draft, Pick No. 14: Barrett Matthews
The Inside Texas Player Draft, where both the Inside Texas community and the Inside Texas staff vote on their picks, continues with the 14th pick in the draft. The IT staff and community were once again divergent, with the staff selecting the experienced Blake Gideon and the community going with the unproven but clearly talented Barrett Matthews.

After a back and forth between Ross Lucksinger and Jeff Howe about whether Malcolm Williams or James Kirkendoll has a better chance of being a consistent threat this season, Howe shifted the discussion. "If we're talking about consistency, there's no player left on the board more consistent than Blake Gideon," said Howe. After a look at the statistics (including Gideon's six picks from last season), the staff started to move toward taking Gideon.
