Top PFF defensive grades from Texas' 27-10 win over UTEP

The Texas defense once again was the glue that holds the Longhorns football team together. It was strong and efficient in Saturday’s 27-10 win over UTEP from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, per PFF.

DEFENSE

DL/EDGE – Zina Umeozulu60.9, Ethan Burke89.5, Travis Shaw70.6, Hero Kanu79.2, Trey Moore73.2Maraad Watson, 71.4, Colin Simmons71.4

The Texas defense begins up front, and they were spectacular. Burke led all defenders with an 89.5 grade and had five tackles and .5 sacks, Watson added four stops, Kanu had three tackles, two TFLs, and a sack. Shaw added a tackle for loss as well.

Umeozulu notches his first sack as a Longhorn.

Freshman EDGE Lance Jackson was active in the backfield.

LB – Anthony Hill Jr75.2, Liona Lefau, 68.7, Tyanthony Smith, 57.5

Lefau led the team with seven tackles and one tackle for loss. Hill and Smith both added three stops.

CB – Malik Muhammad, 66.1, Jaylon Guilbeau, 63.2Kade Phillips, 61.4

The corners did their job on Saturday. Guilbeau notched three tackles and Muhammad added two stops as well.

S/N – Michael Taaffe, 71.4, Graceson Littleton, 79.6Jelani McDonald67.6, Jordon Johnson-Rubell, 74.4

The safeties and nickel play were stupendous. Taaffe led the group with six tackles, McDonald added six tackles and his first interception of 2025. Johnson-Rubell were superb with three tackles and a pass breakup. True frosh Littleton led all DBs and had his first career INT.
