Top PFF defensive grades from Texas' 27-17 win over Texas A&M on Friday

The Texas defense held down the Texas A&M Aggies on Friday night, even missing All-SEC LB Anthony Hill Jr for a second game. Here’s how the defense graded out, per PFF.

DEFENSE

DL/EDGE – Colin Simmons50.6, Ethan Burke, 76.1, Alex January60.1, Lance Jackson, 66.3

Burke led the front four and was tremendous once again vs the Aggies, with a blocked FG and multiple tackles.

LB – Liona Lefau, 87.1, Tyanthony Smith, 63.2, Trey Moore, 60.2

Lefau led all defenders with an 87.1 overall grade. Smith’s second half energy was needed for the Horns.

CB – Malik Muhammad63.8, Kobe Black, 81.9Kade Phillips, 59.5

Black led the secondary in overall grades, brought hat, and snagged an INT. He played his best game as a Longhorn.

S/N – Michael Taaffe, 65.1Jelani McDonald, 57.7, Graceson Littleton, 58.4

Taaffe and McDonald each made plays when they needed them most, including Taaffe’s game-clinching INT, which we’ll call the Michael Taaffe-Texas A&M Memorial Interception.
