Top PFF defensive grades from Texas' 35-10 loss at Georgia on Saturday

The Texas defense had its highs and lows on Saturday in Athens, but when it counted in the fourth quarter, coverage busts, over pursuing, and penalties ultimately doomed Pete Kwiatkowski‘s side of the ball.

DEFENSE

DL/EDGE – Hero Kanu, 70.0, Colin Simmons75.8, Cole Brevard, 68.0, Ethan Burke, 47.4, Alex January59.7, Trey Moore57.6, Justus Terry, 92.7

Simmons led the defensive front with three tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. The true freshman Terry added a career-high four tackles. Kanu, Brevard, and Moore combined for seven tackles.

LB – Anthony Hill Jr60.7, Liona Lefau, 57.0, Tyanthony Smith, 69.3

Smith was sideline-to-sideline with a team-high nine tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack. Hill notched six stops and a big interception in the 3rd quarter.

CB – Malik Muhammad65.7, Jaylon Guilbeau, 61.5Kade Phillips61.2, Warren Roberson, 72.7

Phillips, Guilbeau, and Roberson combined for eight tackles. Every CB not named Muhammad was picked on, who netted five stops.

S/N – Michael Taaffe, 44.1, Jelani McDonald, 59.0

With Taaffe and McDonald back, the secondary got stronger, but there’s still issues on the backend. Taaffe was second on the team in tackles (7) despite the low grade. McDonald added four stops.
