Top PFF defensive grades from Texas' 52-37 win over Arkansas on Saturday

The Texas defense had its good moments and its bad moments on Saturday hosting Arkansas, missing All SEC LB Anthony Hill Jr and others. Here’s how the defense graded out, per PFF.

DEFENSE

DL/EDGE – Colin Simmons91.5 Cole Brevard61.7, Ethan Burke, 71.4, Alex January63.3, Travis Shaw, 76.2

Simmons led the team with a 91.5 overall grade after another stellar performance on Saturday. The D-line showed improvement in the second half.

LB – Liona Lefau, 65.7, Tyanthony Smith, 62.6

Lefau and Smith played well in the absence of Hill Jr. Liona’s fumble-return for six was the highlight after a day of chasing Taylen Green.

CB – Malik Muhammad63.8, Jaylon Guilbeau, 66.4Kade Phillips, 76.6

Phillips led the defensive secondary with a 76.6 overall mark.

S/N – Michael Taaffe, 61.5Jelani McDonald71.5, Graceson Littleton, 72.7

Taaffe and McDonald (huge second half interception) led the backend, with Littleton playing really well at Star. Xavier Filsaime added a 67.9.
