According to a report posted earlier by Jon Rothstein, point guard Tramon Mark and forward/center Lassina Traore have been cleared fully for basketball activities. This means full contact, scrimmages, and anything else that head coach Sean Miller might have them do to prepare for the season, which starts on November 4 against Duke in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tramon Mark, who has played multiple positions during his career at Houston, Arkansas, and now, Texas, was inserted into the lineup as a lead initiator towards the end of last season, where he saw a decent amount of success, recording 15 assists over his last four games, including five assists in each of his games against Texas A&M and Xavier.

The 6-foot-6 fifth-year senior will play a crucial role for Texas this season, as they are limited on playmaking guards, at least on paper. He averaged 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in 2024-25, but is a candidate for a major jump this season in Sean Miller’s offensive system.

Xavier transfer Lassina Traore, who missed last season with a knee injury sustained during preseason training camp, was tapped as the starter for Miller’s Musketeers last season before going down.

Prior to that, the 6-foot-10, 245-pound forward averaged 11.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game with Long Beach State, and was one of the most consistent bigs in the Big West Conference. He, like Mark, is experienced, and also adds physicality to the front court, something last year’s group lacked.

These two players are vitally important for this Longhorns roster, and both will likely start, according to Miller in a media availability earlier this August. Mark, who will play point guard, and Traore, who will potentially oscillate between power forward and center roles, will both play major minutes at their spots on the floor, meaning that their returns from injury are better sooner rather than later.
