Tuesday Texas Q&A: Longhorns 3-1 entering bye week and ahead of SEC play

It wasn’t pretty, particularly on offense, but Texas finds itself at 3-1 and with a bye week to get a number of players healthy before SEC play starts in Gainesville on October 4.

After the 55-0 drubbing of Sam Houston State, fans find themselves in much better headspace than the week prior when Texas left a lot of points on the board against UTEP. Given the low quality of opponent, however, there are still plenty of concerns over Steve Sarkisian’s side of the ball. For the fourth week in a row, a lot of the conversation centered around Arch Manning and the offensive line.

CFB today centered on the state of Oklahoma. First, it was announced that Mike Gundy has been fired after a fantastic run in Stillwater. The more surprising news was OU’s star quarterback, John Mateer, will need to have surgery on his right hand. He’ll very likely miss the Red River Shootout. That’s a bummer. I wanted the dual-threat to test the Texas defense. This first reply was made before the news of the injury broke. It’s still relevant as Texas will face other dual-threat quarterbacks on the schedule.

IT was asked about transfer wide receiver Emmett Mosley. During the Q&A a source responded to our query by stating Mosley had not returned to practice as of Monday.
