Watch: Xavier Worthy breaks Texas freshman receiving TD record

Texas Longhorn true freshman Xavier Worthy broke Roy Williams’ freshman receiving touchdown record on a 33 yard pass from Hudson Card.

Worthy who was ranked as the No. 18 player in the 2021 class according to On3 entered today’s game leading all FBS freshmen with 679 receiving yards and 75.4 receiving yards per game. Additionally, his 19.4 yards per catch are 19th-best nationally and tops among Power Five freshmen. The Fresno, Calif. native is averaging 34.4 yards per touchdown reception (274 yards/eight touchdowns).

Worthy was named to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list, the Maxwell Football Club announced this Tuesday.
