Inside Texas: When did you know it was Texas?
Zina Umeozulu: “I ain’t going to lie, last night.”
IT: What was it about the Texas football program that convinced you to commit to the Longhorns?
ZU: “After the (Rice visit), that solidified things. Last night I was just talking with the family and praying, and I just felt like Texas was the place to be. God just gave me that feeling.”
IT: I talked to your parents and they said Zina is his own person, he’s not following Neto. He’s doing his own thing. Did your brother there have anything to do with this?
ZU: “I really like how Neto wasn’t forcing me to go to Texas. He never really pushed it. That made me make the decision on my own.”
IT: You’ve told Inside Texas in the past about your relationships with Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate. How did that develop?

ZU: “Having that relationship with them is just going to make the transition to Austin that much easier. Development wise, I feel like they’re some of the best in the nation. I’m comfortable and happy with the choice.”
IT: Colin Simmons could be on one side at EDGE and you could be on the other side. Have you thought about that yet?
ZU: “Yes sir, for a fact. I was talking to him two days ago and we were talking about how we can make something shake and make something crazy happen.”
Umeozulu is ranked as the No. 249 overall prospect, the No. 15 EDGE, and the No. 44 prospect in the state of Texas in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
