USC has taken a hit as 2025 four-star safety Anquon Fegans has announced he has decommitted from USC.

Fegans is the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Alabama.

Fegans’ original commitment came just after his older bother, Tre’Quon Fegans, announced he would be transferring to USC from Alabama.

Fegans, 6-foot, 190 pounds, was the lone commitment in the class of 2025 for the Trojans.

In his recruitment, Fegans holds 20 total offers from Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, Georgia, Penn State, South Carolina, Arkansas, Michigan, Oregon, Jackson State, Colorado, Auburn, Marshall, Florida State and Arizona.

Fegans opening up his recruitment leaves the Trojans will zero commitments in the 2025 class.

Back to square one

Going back to square one, Anquon now plans to take as many visits as he can before making another decision. That includes getting out to plenty of games during the fall. USC is also one of those schools who will continue to remain in the mix for him.

“USC will still be a school on my list that I’ll consider. I just want to take a step back and explore all of my options,” he told On3.

“When I committed to USC, the culture is what stood out to me,” Anquon said. They’ve always been known for winning and there aren’t many years you can say USC had a bad season. I just thought I’d try something new.

…Right now I’m planning on getting out to some games this fall to really get the full experience of different places.”

On3 NIL Valuation for Fegans

Fegans currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $134K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

On3 Scouting Summary

“Good looking build for a 2025 DB, has great length with a frame that should continue to add mass with ease,” On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire said. “Explosive player on tape that has positional versatility. Lines up in the slot, in the boundary, as a deep half safety and as a pure center fielder. Comes downhill aggressively and is a consistent tackler. Has some power on contact and real pop in his pads. Very comfortable when the ball is in front of him as a zone defender. Triggers quickly and has immense field vision and awareness.

“Not sure if he has ideal top-end speed at this point to be a corner at the next level so I think safety is most likely his home, but he has the ability to hang with backs and tight ends in man coverage if asked to do so. Safety projection who will be a consistent issue for offenses around the box as a run defender and as a robber in the passing game.”
