The USC Trojans continued their hot spring recruiting run on Sunday as running back Harry Dalton announced his commitment to Lincoln Riley’s program.

USC didn’t enter the picture for Dalton until early February, when former running backs coach Kiel McDonald extended an offer. New USC running backs coach Anthony Jones Jr. came on board in early March and picked up the recruitment. Dalton committed on Sunday after spending Saturday on campus for an unofficial visit.

The 6-foot, 205-pound back is a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 244 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Rankings. He’s an On3 outlier and ranked significantly higher there than the other recruiting sites. He’s regarded as a three-star prospect and the No. 479 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings.

Dalton plays quarterback for Dinwiddie (Virginia) County, but he’s a run-first option there. As a junior, he completed 107-of-203 passes for 1,662 yards and 16 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. On the ground, he accounted for 1,295 yards and 27 touchdowns. Dalton plays defensive back as well, finishing this past season with 25 tackles, two pass deflections and an interception. Dalton possesses a solid combination of quickness and long speed, but the outstanding vision that comes with needing to consistently run the zone read as a quarterback.

Dalton has twice been named the Region 4B Offensive Player of the Year.

Running back was an important position for the Trojans in this 2025 class as USC is lacking numbers there. Jones has just four scholarship running backs on the roster this spring and USC will lose veteran transfer Woody Marks after the year. Previously, Jones landed a commitment from three-star back Riley Wormley in the 2025 class.
