Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy 2025 four-star defensive lineman London Merritt has been keyed in on USC for quite a while. His interest in the Trojans has a chance to go on to new heights as he has announced he will be visiting USC for this weekends game against Washington.

It will be his first visit to see the Trojans.

Merritt is the No. 72 overall prospect and No. 7 defensive line in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 10 player in Georgia.

In May Merritt dropped a top-12 list, which USC unsurprisingly made the cut for. His full list of schools still in play was USC, Alabama, Clemson, Colorado, Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee, LSU, Florida, North Carolina, Texas A&M and Notre Dame.

Merritt is one of the most sought after prospects in the 2025 cycle, holding 45 total offers in his recruitment.

With Merritt confirming he will be in attendance, he now becomes one of the VIP visitors of the weekend. WeAreSC will publish full list of visitors expected to be in attendance.

On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Alabama currently holds the lead to land a commitment from Merritt at 23.8%.

RPM was released to the public in December 2021. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

UA Future 50 Evaluation on Merritt

“Four-star defensive lineman London Merritt was arguably the most explosive and fluid pass rusher at the event today. His ability to bend and turn the corner was second to none. Merrit, who plays at Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy, flashes such great athleticism for his body type and has the rare blend of pop in his pads and fluidity for a defensive lineman.

The question with Merritt will be if he develops into an interior defensive lineman or stays on the EDGE. He stands in right around 6-foot-2 with solid length, but is not freakishly long. However, he proved that he is not afraid to be physical in the trenches and he can get to the quarterback from the EDGE consistently.”
