A daily three-point briefing recapping the news and notes of the past 24 hours. Today it’s getting hyped and prepped for tonight’s game, and checking in on recruits.

USC’s game preview and review are always must-watch productions. Here’s the latest entry, setting up USC’s first conference game of the year against an old rival.

Game prep

WeAreSC has you covered with everything you need to know heading into the game. Start with The Huddle, a quick cheat sheet with news, notes and a USC depth chart, and get a look at Stanford as well.

USC will look to use its big tight ends and the expected return of Gary Bryant Jr. to provide a big challenge for the Cardinal when it comes to dealing with the Trojans’ personnel groups.

Expect to see seven offensive linemen get time for the Trojans and catch up on practice notes from Tuesday and Wednesday.

Recruits on the move

USC will get a visit from wide receiver commit Caleb Douglas this weekend. He’s already on campus and has spent time with fellow Texas wide receiver Joseph Manjack IV. He’ll be one of several notable recruits scheduled to be on hand for the game.

Class of 2024 safety Maurice Williams (Pearland, Tex./Shadow Creek), the No. 1 safety in that class, will be on campus.

He’ll be joined by fellow top 2024 prospect, offensive tackle Gibson Pyle (Houston, Tex./Klein Cain). Pyle was on the USC campus earlier this summer.

On the field, it was an impressive showing for three top 2022 targets for the Trojans. Running backs Jovantae Barnes (Las Vegas/Desert Pines) and Raleek Brown (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) scored touchdowns in wins. And 2022 outside linebacker David Bailey (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) was a force, as usual, on defense.
