Each week me and our impressive intern from USC’s Anneneberg School of Communications hop on Zoom to record the WeAreSC Recruiting Roundup. At that time we recap some of the interesting USC storylines of the week for our YouTube audience.

Our primary focus is on recruiting, but we’ll also touch on other topics each week.

Edge Kameryn Fountain improve class ranking from 103 to 95

When Atlanta (Ga.) Washington four-star EDGE Kameryn Fountain announced his commitment to USC in June, he was just the seventh pledge of the class. His addition was celebrated as the Trojans are working to increase their talent level in the trenches and Fountain was contributing to that.

That was when Fountain was ranked just inside the top-150. Since his commitment, he has seen some steady increases up the list.

Just last week, he ranked as the No. 103 prospect. Now, after an update in the industry rankings, Fountain has moved into the top-100 ranks, being slotted at No. 95 overall. He ranks as the No. 6 edge rusher in the 2024 class.

Fountain’s new ranking gives USC four commits in the top-100 in the On3 Industry Rankings. Xavier Jordan leads the class at No. 60 followed by Ryan Pellum at No. 86 and Marcelles Williams at No. 89. Jason Zandamela is not far away as he is the No. 106 overall prospect.

4-star LB Chris Cole set his USC official visit

Class of 2024 Salem (VA) 4-Star Linebacker Chris Cole had quite a busy recruitment this Spring and Summer. During the offseason Cole made 36 school visits. He took his first unofficial visit to USC in early June.

Cole is the No. 53 overall prospect and No. 5 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Virginia.

Last week Cole released a list of Top Six schools and USC was among them. So were Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, Penn St. and Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder took four officials in June: Penn State (June 2), Virginia Tech (June 9), Georgia(June 16) and Miami (June 23).

WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader was able to speak with

Cole last Monday and learned Cole’s still planning to return to USC for a USC official recruiting visit during the season. He’ll be back in Los Angeles when the Trojans face Nevada on September 2.

“USC is an OV I’ve been looking forward to,” said Cole. “I’m definitely going back to visit in the fall and spend some time with Coaches and players!”

Xavier Jordan earns invite to the 2024 All-American Bowl

USC’s top commitment in the 2024 class has received high honors as top-100 wide receiver Xavier Jordan has been invited to the All-American Bowl hosted by NBC Sports

The All-American Bowl is a year-round celebration of high school excellence both on and off the field. As the nation’s premier high school sporting event for 20 years, it features the top 100 senior football players from across the country and is played inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. Broadcast annually on NBC, the All-American Bowl is the most-watched and highest-attended high school sporting event.

In last years game, USC signees Quinten Joyner and Walker Lyons were members of the West squad in the prestigious game.

Jordan is the No. 60 overall prospect and No. 12 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in California and has helped with USC recruiting.

In his junior season, Jordan was one of the most productive wide receivers in high school football.

In 13 games played, Jordan racked up 83 receptions, 1,626 receiving yards with 20 touchdowns. He averaged 125.1 yards per game and 19.6 yards per reception.
