Newcastle 1-1 Aston Villa at 12’. Newcastle came out like gangbusters and AV was lucky to not be down 2-0. And then Villa scored on an amazing sequence, just beautiful soccer.
Newcastle 2-1 Aston Villa at 16’. Gotta be offsides, though. Nope, they count it, 2-1.

Also, Real Madrid is playing on ABC at 3 today. It looks as if ABC will be carrying Spanish League matches regularly.
Athletic Bilbao 0-2 Real Madrid, approaching halftime. Apparently ABC will be showing Bundesliga matches as well; they promoted showing Kane’s “first match in Bundesliga” next week, this before they showed a clip of Kane being subbed in today.

Wonder if he plays that quickly in a new system?

Liverpool 1, Chelsea1, just starting the second half. Liverpool started well and led 1-0, but then Chelsea took over. Both clubs had a goal disallowed due to offsides (VAR) in the first half.

Chelsea playing and starting with bit of pep in their step. Hope they can continue to build on it.

Final: Chelsea 1, Liverpool 1

Disappointing outing for the Reds overall. Chelsea controlled possession, 65% to 35%. Mo Salah was visibly upset after being subbed out late in the match. It could have been simple competitiveness or tension with Klopp.

Manchester United-Wolverhampton tomorrow, Monday, 3pm on USA Network.
United 0-0 Wolves at 65’. I’ve been doing some cleaning while I watch; the only two good chances I’ve seen were by Wolverhampton. Wolverhampton is controlling the midfield, the announcers have mentioned this several times.

United win, 1-0. I thought Wolves got screwed out of a penalty kick late that could have tied it.

I’m no Man City fan, but I like De Bruyne and hate to see him out for so long.
It didn't look too bad when it occurred, but he did wave to come off right away. I don't like seeing folks injured, but if it is Cheating City my sympathy is a bit less.

I don't blame Harry at all. I'm sure he wants to be on the field, but not for a 15 million dollar pay cut. He can practice and have a great seat while playing in the FA Cup and smaller competitions. Phil Jones did that for the last few years for United...and he rarely was even on the bench.

Liverpool 1-1 Bournemouth at 29’. I missed the first goal, Bournemouth’s, before 11’. Luis Diaz just now scored on a brilliant bouncing Betty wheelhouse kick. (Ball rolled up to him, he flicked it up waist-high, blammo.) Bournemouth should have cleared that last pass, but that’s soccer.
