I don’t think they’re a top-5 team in MLB. They don’t score runs consistently enough and their bullpen has regressed to the mean.
Care to wager? $100 that the Phillies make the playoffs.

The bullpen didn’t just regress. It wasn’t seriously addressed in the offseason. They didn’t get a surefire bullpen guy with any history of success. Alvarado, even before the suspension, was all or nothing. He is either lights out or all over the place. Getting another backend bullpen guy like Tanner Scott would have been a smart move. At this point, this may sound crazy, but can Nola close? He’s usually good for an inning or two then it’s anybody’s guess. They needed another OF bat also. They loosely addressed it with the new left fielder, but the jury is still out. They still don’t have anyone in the lineup that is a consistent hitter. Lots of power, but when the bats go cold, they go really cold. Just my view from the cheap seats.
I think his arm is shot, some injury not apparent yet. I predict Tommy John surgery. I know some may think I’m nuts but pitch tipping ain’t it.
Two of the three outfield positions contribute next to nothing offensively, and the defense is nothing to brag about there either. And ffs, throw in the towel with Romano. He's not the closer.
