Turley was like a 20 year old freshman and wrestled here for like 7 years lol Ashnault was pretty close to 24 when he won, what young guy was he stealing opportunities from 😂.

and a bunch of grown men dunking on Van Ness for only taking 2nd while our program hasn’t had an AA in 2 years but yea sure he ll definitely want to leave Penn state and come here 🙄. Guy is 3,3,2 he’d be the 2nd or 3rd best Rutgers wrestler ever and yall cheering that he lost
Not sure if you are referring to my post, but it wouldn’t surprise me if transferring didn’t come up in conversation between Rod and Shayne. If so, hopefully he follows Suriano and Seabass’s leads.

2 PSU champs on phantom 2nd stall calls. Make them at least shoot before you call stalling.
That's my issue as well. If I counted the number of Rutgers matches where the opponent was doing nothing but we didn't get a stall call the explanation was always because our guys weren't shooting. Even Jordan seemed surprised on the first stall call because they were in the middle of the f****** mat.

Lol..not bitching or crying like all you big babies...the team sucked this weekend ...does crying about it all day gonna change anything lol ..I think not ...you all want PSU results but guess what ..we ain't Penn State or any of the top ten and never will be ...get over it and if you don't like what's being presented then don't come anymore instead of whining like little girls
I respectfully disagree that we can't be a top 10 team every year, and sometimes even a medal team.

Lilledahl took 0 shots. McGowan didn't run. Funny when PSU or OKST is defensive and no one blinks.
He didn’t run? Are you serious? He backed up off the whistle and grabbed fingers and went to a knee the whole match, he didn’t even shoot when he was losing late

MAM should have come out firing after the embarrassing loss he took stalling out. Lilledahl wasn’t doing a lot but MAM was hugging the out of bounds most of match
Problem is Lilledahl took 0 shots and didn't even really attempt to.

Shane wants to be a world champ long term he’s not leaving Penn State that’s wild especially with the current state of the coaching staff. Labriola the most accomplished coach got pinned by multiple Penn state wrestlers in his career , he ain’t leaving and I highly doubt he blames Penn state or the coaches as the reason he hasn’t won a title. And no I wasn’t responding to you. I was responding to others cheering SvN lose and Leonard and his shenanigans

No one here is asking for PSU results.. I don’t think you understand the concept that most fans want RU to at least perform to the lvl of resource they are getting…. Should RU be doing worst then Rider/Princeton etc? Are those programs getting more $$?? Most fans were just hoping for 1.5AA for the last few years and to get none 3 out of last 4 year is blah..

IMHO: We need 2 transfers. 285is priority #1, 133 likely #2 and a luxury would be 141 or 149.

Some possible transfers:

133: Van Dee (labs, 1 year left), Mougalian (NJ, 1 year left),TK Davis ( GW, small school, small room, I like him, perhaps he could thrive in a better room.)
141: B. Davis (PSU kind of done with him), Zeth Romney (injured this season, 1 season left), Anthony Santaniello (NJ, we recruited him in HS, lost starting spot this year)
149: SVN (no duh), Connor Pierce (psu depth who will never crack lineup)
285: Cochran PSU (could possibly have 1 more year depending on NCAA), Amos wisco (final year, wisco is in rough shape), Mullen VT (NJ), Ziola Neb (We recruited him hard, ferrari may be back for 1 or 2 more years), Nate Schon Drexel (moved around a bunch, 1 year left, came to drexel this year)

We need 2 or 3 impact transfers if we want to make a jump. I doubt it happens but I'd offer SVN insane $ to see if he'd come home. Would be a great partner for B. Harer to train with too. I give it less than 1% chance 😂. No thanks on Davis. Too many issues. We need a significant name assistant coach too.

Great work and I agree 285 and 133 are #1a/#1b and 149 has to be #2 (assuming Harer goes 141). Don't think you can roll into next season with the talent that's in the room. These guys are all developmental guys and don't see any of them ready yet. Goodale will hype them up, but in the B1G they'll get their teeth kicked in.

Also, I'm hoping Ford lives in a weight room this summer and can take over 174. That kid has a lot of potential if he can bulk up to 174 or grow an inch or two.

how long till Oklahoma st seriously challenges PSU? 2 years?

Bottom kinda.fell out of Ohio st. They looked fierce earlier in the season.

Even bigger bottom fell out of Cornell.

Iowa gets a trophy and keeps streak of finalists. Seems odd to see 4th as a success for them but things looked rough mid season.

I was rooting for Van Ness but its hard not to like Valencia. Fearless attack style! He is going to be fun to watch. Made me a fan tonight.

McGowan didnt run but he was constantly taking steps back while LL kept going forward. I understand no shots for LL, but McGowan was on the retreat the majority of the time. I was rooting for him but have no issue with the stall calls.

So make LL take a bad desperate shot or let McGowan stall to OT and maybe steal a win bc you don’t want the nationals decided on a stall call? The ref told McGowan to stop grabbing fingers 5 times before he hit him for stalling

He won a national title on a stall point and didn't take a shot.

I agree the Princeton kid was stalling but LL wasn't doing much either.

It's the finals...make them both wrestle.

Cochran would be a great get, a natural 197er, that was able to bump up to HWT and beat AA Yara.

Silly. He didn't attempt even a half shot. Did he even lower his level? Ridiculous. Shoot.

LL didn’t want to end up like Mendez. Vega stalled his entire match but is a national champ. Merrill was looking to do the same thing. Defensive specialists/scramblers will ruin the sport.

I dont disagree with you. But if you keep stepping backwards, you are gonna get banged. It was blatantly obvious he was not defending his position the majority of time on his feet.

....and to this point, are you saying bend the rules that are enforced for 99.99% of the year? Just because it's the finals? And you can back up and/or flee as much as you want provided your opponent is not attempting a shot? I dont like the way the match was won, but at the end of the day, it's the wrestler's job to wrestle within the rules and find a way to win within them.

The Princeton kid should have got called for more stalling calls he was reversing the whole match! That Jax Forest is a dynamo always moving and looking to score!

It seems like you are implying success is only possible at PSU. Sebastian Rivera won a 2023 World silver and a 2024 Olympic bronze while training at Rutgers!

Look...we all know good refs have a feel for the moment.

To his credit the ref warned the PU kid multiple times. But LL wasn't doing squat either.

I am not the wrestling expert here, but have watched a ton...I dont recall many matches where a kid earns a stall without attempting a shot. In fact, you often hear the coach or commentator - in a situation where the other kid is backing up a lot - say the kid needs to shoot to earn the stall.LL never did. Not even a half baked attempt. It was weird.

Anyway, the rest of the matches were awesome and i don't feel like arguing...lol.

I will say this... if LL wore a Rutgers singlet, he is never in a million years getting the first warning, let alone the 2nd. ;)

Folkstyle also needs to consider adding a step out rule. With 3 point takedowns, the 3rd period of every match is strictly the guy with the lead hanging at the edge of the circle and any danger just step out to where you can’t get scored on. All stepouts should be a point just like in free style. Maybe treat them as stalls. Not sure what’s better but something needs to be done.
Agree. Folksytle needs the stepout rule now.

I wonder if Rod is questioning his allegiance to Cael. Next year will be Shayne’s sixth year at PSU and still no NC for a guy who was supposed to win multiple.
Maybe that's on the wrestler and not Cael so much at this point? Has not been a problem for multiple other guys.

OKST wrestlers aren't shooting and just counters and stalling.

Barr is a 22 yo redshirt sophomore. More ridiculous holdbacks and/or greyshirts. NCAA needs an age limit. Cutoff should be 23, absent a medical redshirt. These old guys are taking away opportunities from younger guys.
NCAA has been disempowered by their own arrogance and incompetence and the courts. That is never going to happen in the pay the athletes era. In fact what I think will happen in wrestling is that guys will now want to get to college earlier to get paid.

However, I do not disagree with the absurdity of holdbacks in middle school strictly to improve high school wrestling results.

LL was taking ground and stalking McGown for 7 min. Reminded me of Yara running away from Gable
This exactly. One moving forward, one moving back. I didn't expect LL to shoot much or at all in the first place. But he sure wasnt going to compromise himself with a bad shot when McGowan was on the retreat. He has elite training and experience and executed based on that. The aggressor is favored each and every time, unless you have an idiot ref.
