So whats the problem then? I think we can all answer that. And to that point with rider , Hangey is a great guy. He is not pretentious or postures up. He also doesn't sugar coat things like Goodale does. I met him a couple of times through my buddy ,Dan Mayo. Solid dude. Did not like jason nace though. Guy was a little mouthy douche. That's the difference between a season coach and a business man. If Rider was a strong academic institution, Rutgers would loose the bidding war with them...hands down. Until changes are made, we are gonna have this conversation for the next couple years. If coaching resume and prowess did not matter just go look at what donnie did in just two years. We all know who the real deal was during our suriano and ashnault era.
Mayo wrestled for Penn State right ? A NY guy?
im a big fan of Hagneys. I met him down in Virginia Beach at NHSCA my senior yr and talked to him for a solid 30 minutes, I was planning on going D3 and convinced I could never wrestle D1 but he kept floating the idea I should walk on at rider, I didn’t but I always thought it was pretty cool that he thought I could hack it ( I was way too immature I wouldn’t have hacked it lol).
I really like Goodale and always have which is why it’s annoying when I get attacked when I say it’s time to move on but when you look at the just numbers and data it’s pretty obvious what needs to happen. 18 of the 19 AAs under Goodale are from when Donnie was on staff, that’s insane and that 1 was shawver miracle run and he had Donnie as a coach for atleast 3 years before he AAed.
Rider and all these small schools outscoring us with no resources. 0-5 in the R12 the past 2 years, the R12 is FILLED with upsets every year and we couldn’t get one?
9 NJ AAs again this year and none from the actual state school of NJ.
2021 ncaas we get 3 AAs , the last ncaa tournament before that we had 2 champs and at the same time Stanford is about to get their program dropped and fast forward 5 years and that dying program , whose coached by a NJ guy less credentialed then Goodale finished 6th at ncaas with a champ and 4 AAs despite losing 2 of their better guys to inj late in the year and we finish with 7 points no AAs for 2nd straight year and 3 of 4 and tied with Gardner Webb. The writing is on the wall
