We are combining the best of a team previously projected to compete for a Big12 championship in 2026 with major pieces of a PSU team that could have and should have beaten the current #1 team Indiana. Not a bad way to rebuild!
agreed- we’re filling the holes that were left by PSU guys transferring and graduating with ISU’s best players and best future players. I was expecting a lot of commits this week to be from ISU because all of the visitors were from ISU. just because we’re getting a bunch of ISU guys to commit today doesn’t mean we’re only taking kids from iowa state. this week and next week will be filled with non ISU players visiting. after we fill all of the holes, we will evaluate how much we have left in the budget and then go get the big fish. This staff deserves credit for the way they’ve built the roster so far.

I appreciate the job Campbell is doing to recoup a lost 2026 class and get his guys here that can help mold the culture and future of the program. I also realize that the portal just opened on Jan 2. However, has anyone heard any players from the big boys being courted by PSU? Any Ohio St guys? Bama? UGA? ND? USC? Again, there needs to be guys brought in that the coaches feel will fit the system and the culture. But looking at guys from ND St, South Dakota, SE Louisiana, Arkansas St, etc will probably only get you so far. Like Iowa/Illinois type results. Talent wins out eventually. I realize those guys may come in and be really productive and good for PSU, but we were led to believe that the sky was the limit with the portal. If you are going to let guys like Campbell, Shanahan, Coleman, Gilliam and Harvey walk, you better get equal or better talent to replace them. The natives will get really restless, really fast, if the product on the field next season looks like Minny or Illinois.
The natives will need to get over it.. Who led anyone to believe that with a new staff and mass attrition that "sky was the limit" and that the top end talent would flock into PSU to fill the void? That is is an idiotic expectation.

Once again. The reasonable expectation was that that next coach coming in would be bringing in HIS players and recruits to fill the void of the complete loss of a class and a mass exodus.

Fans should be doing somersaults with the quality of players Campbell will be able to fill the roster in year one. In year two and three as the program regains its footing offers will be made to higher rated players and as the most recent offers indicate.

Nah, this was the perfect storm with regards to the timing of the firing, the subsequent hiring of said HC at a regional school and the early signing period.

Will we see kids enter the TP annually, sure but not at this quantity while simultaneously still adding to the recruiting class.
Not at this quantity?

There are 4000 or so players s in the portal.

PSU is not just a few positions away from competing at the top level as we sit here today. This is developing into a total rebuild.
Only those not paying attention thought that this was not a total rebuild. You lost the entire 26 recruiting class and a vast number of your current players were going to move on. If Campbell retains 30 top end players (which he is) he is doing an excellent job.

Just following up from our conversation from earlier, he is an example, like Bacon, of a linebacker size that Campbell reportedly seems to prefer. Again, not arguing about Amare, wish he was here as well, but there is a profile of d player that Campbell prefers and it is one that has height.

We are trading our leading tackler for a tall walk on with less production.

I wonder whether some people were simply born imbeciles or work hard at it. In a head to head comparison of Amare and Brezina who do you like better on paper?

1, Amare never scored above an 85 (3*) as either a recruit or a transfer. And being the leading tackler on a squad that was ranked six spots lower than Iowa State's means zero.
2, Brezina scored an 87 as a recruit and was a scholarship player with a PFF of 72.7 overall rating. That number included a team-best 82.7 tackling grade. Indiana offered him, and that their evaluations are usually spot on.

This does NOT mean I would not have wanted Amare to stay on, but if I can get an equal or better player for less money why wouldnt I

Penn State Football picked up the commitment of 2026 ATH Josiah Zayas, a three-star recruit with the potential to play both wide receiver and cornerback at the next level, on Sunday, Jan. 4.
Zayas, who stands 6-foot-2, weighs 200 pounds and hails from Edison, N.J., announced the move in a post to his Instagram account. Many college players need at least a season to bulk up before seeing significant time on the field. While Zayas’ skills may need polishing, he already has the build of a college athlete.

You have no idea what talent Campbell has evaluated and is bringing in. None.
No. I don’t. Any neither do those saying there plenty of options better than the guy they let walk. I’m in full support of Campbell. If he’s got better options, he should go for it. He’s got his work cut out for him.

There are already two committed LB from ISU that profile better than Amare, excluding Rojas and Alex Tasch.

.... while in reality it's all just a math problem. Whoever does math best, wins.
Well if it's all about the maths and who does it best, then I think it's time to break glass and get on the hotline to our secret weapon. Ring, ring. "John Urschel...this is Coach Campbell... Your alma mater needs you to help compete in football and math and get us over the top. We need a secret weapon. Can you step up?".

PSU PhD John Urschel.... "Coach I think I can help".

Natty follows a year later!

In the lyrics of Olivia Newton John..."Let's Get Physical....Physical..."

We are trading our leading tackler for a tall walk on with less production.
So Amare was our leading tackler over who? Deluca? Tatsch? Rojas? Great comparisons.

where do the portal rankings experts have A.C. ranked vs Bacon. I’m pretty sure they know a tad more than you moron.
