I'm not saying that there aren't people in here stretching the truth, but I have played with over 25 people who have broken par in front of my eyes...myself included (never played State's course). None of them are playing pro golf. Only about 5 played college golf. One of my buddies back in high school shot a legit 67 when he was in 8th grade and he is not a professional golfer either. Point is, there are a ton of really good golfers out there that are bankers, engineers, accountants, teachers, business owners, etc. There's way more to being a pro than just breaking par. There's a huge difference actually.

And I understand people play golf for YEARS... I get it... but my problem is I personally know what it takes to be a good golfer... I've been playing for 10+ years and have broken 90 a few times (none of which were on the State course), but to tell me that this many people on this board have shot this close to par (A 67???? Why the hell is he not playing in Augusta this weekend?? 74, 75... which was 3 over par until 2 years ago), it HAS to be ********. <div>
</div><div>Maybe you shot a 78... and chances are, I'll never know if you did or not since I have no idea who you are or how well you really play. I will say one time shooting a 78 is a lot more realistic than some of the other numbers claimed. However, I know former Juco players that play 4 or 5 times a week still that say our course is not easy and plays long, especially from the tips, and they have a very hard time breaking 80 (the guys I know will normally shoot in the mid to low 80s). I also know people who have told that exact story and when they actually play and I get to watch them, it's easy to tell they are flat out making numbers up. I still believe some of the numbers on this thread are completely made up.</div>

grow up playing High School golf and junior golf tournaments. These formats are played by the USGA rules. The same ones that the Masters and PGA tour use. If you cheat you are disqualified from the tournament AND kicked off your team. The second worse thing in golf besides being a cheater is to call someone else a cheater when they aren't. Sorry you suck at golf but Mississippi State has a Professional Golf Management program. The guys that graduate from this are head pros at the nicest courses in the USA. They teach lessons. You should probably take some of these. They help tremendously.

If you did, you lack reading comprehension skills.

evidence showing the people will lie and steal to small degrees. I imagine that a lot of these 74s were a 74 with a gimme put that the person decided was a gimme aftermissing it or 2 balls off the first tee, or playing a lost ball penalty incorrectly. <div>
</div><div>I once shot a 38 on the back 9--I hit a 60 foot put on 18. I did get some luck. They were doing construction on 18 and I hit it into the dirt fairway and received a free drop in a much better location. So, even that shouldn't really count as a 38, but I sure as hell don't normally give that part of the story.</div><div>

For the most part, the courses we play are nowhere equal to the courses the pros play. And when we do play those courses, we're most likely not teed back as far (at my age, I'm certainly not), nor is the course set up anywhere near as difficult.

It's a different game on the tour.

Part of the reason I started this thread was because so many posters on here were acting like they've never had a double before. But none of them have graced this thread with there scores so if we do play I can't call them on their ********.

Play it as it lies. Improving one's lie can cut numerous strokes off a round.

Not for the purpose of calling someone on their adherence to the rules of golf, but just to have fun.

You're a dumbass, a ****** golfer, and play with nothing but ****** golfers. The pros that you saw at Augusta would be shooting 62-65 at worst at State's course and pretty much every course in MS not named Annandale or Reunion. Hell, the winning 4-day weekend score for a the Viking/True South Classic is routinely around -15 or better. The last 4 winning scores were -22, -15, -19, and -13. And that's on probably the toughest course in Mississippi.

I've shot 77, 78 twice, and 79 a few times abiding by all PGA rules. I'm about a 12 handicap (don't officially keep it though I know my range of scores) and can throw a 90 on the card on a bad day as quickly as a 79. The people I routinely play with are anywhere from scratch golfers (played in the MS Pro-Am) to 4-10 handicaps and they play nearly every weekend if not more. Go to Castlewoods, Jackson Country Club, and a couple others around Jackson and you can easily find guys who will shoot right around par, some will go under on occasion. Go to a club tournament at any of the big clubs in Jackson and you'll see alot of low-mid 70s being scored, and the scoring is done by your playing partner.
