Exactly where we want to be at this point in the season. Getting votes. It seems every time we get into the Top 25 too early, it goes to the kids heads and we have a losing streak. I like where we are.
i have never been a believer in that thinking. Many are. And i do not fear this tean resting on their laurels, and we know Sha would be kind of sad if they did lol.

We discussed this topic previously on the Trove. But I'll ask this question here since we won't have a game to discuss until Saturday.

We were listed as #27 in the AP top 25, but the metrics (Kenpom/NET) have us much lower. Kenpom #47 and the NET #39.

My question is where would you rate the Pirates as of today? I would say in the range of 30-35.

I would say 35-40 sounds about right.

I am not sure if the last two wins, both pulled out from the fire in games that were heading south in a hurry...with poor shooting in both, is either a good sign (resilient, fight to the end) or a bad sign (sooner or later, bad shooting will catch up with you as good teams won't collapse).

Maybe after the next few games I will have a better idea...

I'll take #27, but for me we are in that 32-37 range. The team does so many things well. Our bigs even make big free throws at crunch time. The Red Flag is only scoring 56 points in the Nova and Creighton home games. They must fix that.

Can't really argue we should be in yet, but we're close. Of the teams getting votes, I think we're clearly behind 4 or 5 of them at the moment.

The 30-35 range seems right.

we played poorly twice and went 2-0
and predictive metrics would say we're going to eventually play more games like that, and law of averages is we start losing those games.

so not quite the makings of top 25 until they get back on track offensively. our defense is so good that we don't need a great offense.

if we are 27 now, my predicktive metrics say another win or 2 and we are 25 or better

I noted in the preseason the obvious. Our season will be dictated by the nail biters. The games decided in the last minute or so.

To date we're 3-1. And with the proper whistle possibly 4-0.

Let's hope that doesn't even out.
