  • This is not a projection but play to date

1 UConn 24-2 14-1
Not as dominant as earlier in the season

2 St John's 20-5 13-1
If the season started the last month...best team in the conference,

3 Villanova 20-5 11-3
Never thought Nova would be here in Oct

4 Seton Hall 18-8 8-7
No quit in this team

5 Creighton 13-13 7-8
It could have been worse without the miracle comeback against the Pirates

6 Georgetown 13-12 5-9
Playing better than their record

7 Xavier 13-12 5-9
This shows how bad the conference is this year

8 DePaul 13-12 5-9
Any other year much lower

9 Butler 13-13 4-11
Injuries have destroyed a once promising season

10 Providence 11-15 4-11
Thank God Powell's vicious elbow missed the SJU's player's head

11 Marquette 9-17 4-11
The off season can't come too soon

1) UCONN
2) St. John's

3) Villanova

Th rest are mediocre at best, not worthy of ranking, and a colossal waste of somebody's money.

In the Big East heyday and 18-8 over 500 in conference would get you a solid 6 seed...
Yup and that’s a problem. No way Uconn or SJU have the types of records they have if the Big East is what we all hope it will be. Then again KW wouldn’t have 3 losses and we wouldn’t be 8-7 either.

Not sure how you can put Butler in the not good category while having us as a bubble level team. We barely eeked out a win against them yesterday & they kicked our *** at home a month ago.

I dont think the lower teans are bad. Go back to the early 80s. Those bottom teams were awful and had no chance against the good teams. BU played uconn tough, xu played sju tough, pc gave sj a game and beat sj. And uconn is an elite team and sju is a top 15 i think, which will make our win that much better.

I believe he hit Hopkins' head pretty hard. Hence the protest.
However, in the slow motion, he seemed to try to break Hopkins' fall but was unable to.
The aftermath was inevitable.
This type of physical play has become the hallmark of BE play, at a cost when BE teams play OOC games and tournaments where this type of play is frowned upon.
I don't mind the physical play so much as long as it goes both ways and the refs calls are even and they establish clear boundaries.
But i think it hurts us when we get to the Big Dance.

Different situation. After his skirmish with Hopkins he threw an even more viscous elbow at another player with momentum. If that shot hit the head of the SJU player he could have killed him.

A player as big and strong as Powell with a running start smashing a player in the head would have likely landed him in jail.
