Why is there a gap between 1&2? Please don’t say because of Wednesday’s outcome. Stj beat them comfortably two weeks ago

Not off that game. I’ve said all year I think UCONN is the better team. So I don’t base it on the Wednesday rout in Hartford/Storrs. Anything can happen in one game, and that was UConn’s proverbial regular season Super Bowl. Having lost 3 in a row to SJU, I was uber confident they would win (predicted double digits I think), though obviously not in the fashion they destroyed them.

I’ve liked them more all season because they have more continuity from last year, more balance, more parts that make sense together, more experience winning together (or in college generally) and a higher ceiling IMO. The league coaches picked SJU as a slight favorite over UConn, but as I’ve said before, Vegas had UConn as the favorites to win the league and I know this because I bet them. Also, UConn had a much better OOC.

So that’s been my view all year, and it won’t change given what the records are and what transpired to date even if they don’t win the BE tourney.

Confused why in some cases DePaul is picked ahead of the Pirates. Recently they are playing better. But the season is more than the last few weeks.

The Pirates have a better record in conference and out. That and superior metrics numbers. And I say this confessing I'm not a big metrics guy. But that doesn't mean you completely ignore them.

Plus, I strongly believe that Providence is better than DePaul as well, although I understand why some may disagree. Yes, DePaul has a better record but Providence has recently beaten DePaul twice and their metrics are also far superior than DePaul's.

The season is more than 2 games long. We swept Providence and Providence swept DePaul.

You take more than just that to rank teams.

Doubtful. They still have to play Nova and Butler. We play Xavier and SJU and we're one game up on them at the moment.

Plus this listing isn't a projection it's games to date.

Right now DePaul is below us. Down the road we'll see.

FYI - DePaul almost beat Nova on the road, now they get them minus a starter as Hodge is out for the year.
