This is not a projection but play to date

1 Conn 10-1
Flagship program. At least until they bolt

2 St John's 6-3
Potential to move up nationally

3 Seton Hall 10-1
More confident on this as the schedule nears Big East play

4 Villanova 8-2
Playing decently but best win home over 5-6 Pitt

5 Butler 8-2
Leading the conference at 1-0

6 Providence 7-5
Losing conference opener after scoring 110 points

7. Xavier 7-3
5 game win streak home or neutral bumps Creighton

8 Creighton 5-5
If this is McDermott's swan song it's just not right

9. Georgetown 7-3
Really Cooley, OT at home against St Peter's

11 Marquette 5-6
Keep playing like this and DePaul will bump you

11 DePaul 8-3
Paper thin resume with best win over #133 Georgia Tech

Same as last week except I bumped Xavier up one spot over Creighton.

Dare I say at this early juncture I believe we wind up in sole possession of first place in the Big East. I know it’s early but watched several UConn and Villanova games (not St. John’s) and think these teams will have their hands full playing us. I think we are going to embarrass them.
Losing like we did last year is the motivation, Sha hates being on the losing end of things and teams are going to pay.

Kansas St wins at a sold-out Creighton with 18,000 makes our win at their court that much better!
They're #66 in the NET today after that. Just need to keep them Top-75.

Big East NET as of today below. This is bad. More than half the league is NET 93 or worse. Brutal. Still cannot get over Marquette and Creighton, yikes.

#8 Connecticut
#22 St. John's
#33 Villanova
#38 Seton Hall
#46 Butler
#93 Providence
#103 Xavier
#110 Creighton
#128 Georgetown
#147 DePaul
#156 Marquette

Only care about one school on that list and that's Seton Hall. A top goal should be going toe to toe with SJU and that #2 spot. They do that and they'll be dancing in March. The BigEast is down, but Butler and Providence looked much better in their game. So, tons of work to do for The Hall moving forward.

Nova not having rim protector will hurt them over the course of the season, particularly against better teams.

Pitino may get them going and the talent is there, but something seems missing with St John's.

Pitino praised Darling after Ole Miss win
Rumors last week, Ian Jackson was unhappy and looking to immediately leave. Pitino announces he is putting Jackson in starting line up v Iona. Jackson plays 25 minutes and Darling, who the game before was praised by Pitino along with Zuby as the reason they beat Ole Moss, plays 8 minutes. Coincidence?

Gotta love Pitino. He knew he didn’t have a PG so he said SJ could play without one using more motion and movement. I don’t think so. But they have talent.
