then you're going to have really ****** seats. the seats in the corner at the Coliseum are absolutely wretched
Hate to say this, but we NEVER will buy away game tix through Rutgers for this reason. We had fun mingling with the BC fans at Chestnut Hill until we sealed the victory, and some drunk angry young woman bigger than me warned me that I was in a BC section when I cheered after we went ahead. I was afraid for my life.

Wisconsin was fine too, except the seats were packed close together and some of the dudes out there who live on a diet of cheese curds and beer were large enough to occupy 3 of their narrow seats. Good times.

I used to buy away tix through RU as a way to further support the program. But now that I'm giving RU several thousand instead of several hundred to attend games, I don't think about that as much anymore.

That said, I do buy bowl tix through the school (20 for the Pinstripe Bowl) because there are reasonable seating options.

Didn’t they shift the field to the left, if you’re looking at it from the press box, during the last renovation? Making those end zone/corner and zone seats on that side of the stadium a lot closer to the field and they use to be (due to the track)?

You are coming from NJ. There are a lot more tax the rich libs there than you will find walking around and SC game. The socialists are all over at UCLA.

The best think about the Coliseum is it's incredibly rich history. It's not a modern stadium. Seats aren't great, the action is a little far away, and the amenities aren't state of the art. It's gotten better, but you'd have to change the entire stadium to make it modern. I will say this. It's a lot better than the Rose Bowl.

@AreYouNUTS asked a question about the visitor seats in the corner. Seems from the website, aviewfrommyseat.com sections 212 and 312 is not too bad?

The corners are less ideal than some other areas for sure but the stadium is so vast that there just aren't a lot of truly great viewing areas.

Instead of building up, the older stadiums grew out. The Rose Bowl has the same issue. Conversely, Sofi is insane. Not a bad seat in that house. It feels like they just built it straight up.

See....when I look at that stadium on TV it appears that more than half the seats are a 1/4 mile from midfield/mid-court....but obviously haven't been there.

It will feel that way when you are there. It's a unique stadium given all that has happened there and you feel it. The Olympic flame, the more open side of the venue, it's historic. And that's a great thing. It's just old and there is only so much you can do about that without completely rebuilding it or at a minimum, massive amount of work to move the field. I'm not an engineer but at that point I doubt it would be worth it.

SC fans don't seem to bothered by it. Just understand it's old when you go there, the concourses are small, bathrooms are small, and the field will look far away almost no matter where seats are.

Thought that Wiscsonsin's stadium had that feel too. We were in the corner, and we could hardly see the action on the field when on the opposite corner.
Seeing any decent seats on the sidelines to be going for $125-180 dollars per ticket right now.

SHI stadium is fairly decent to pretty good.

SHI from a viewing perspective is much better than the Rose Bowl or the Coliseum.

There a lot of Rutgers complainers about what is going on there in terms of stadium amenities, parking and tailgating.

They are going to learn very quickly how great Rutgers has it. Even after the lacrosse stadium is built.

Exact opposite here. I've always sat in the RU section at away games. I care far more about being with fellow RU fans, instead of being surrounded by enemy fans, than where I sit. Some of my favorite moments have been at away games when we've beaten good teams and we're all going crazy serenading the downtrodden home fans slowly walking out of the stadium.

And the best part of a road victory is after the game when the entire Team comes over to the Rutgers Visitors section and sings On the Banks of the Old Raritan.

Enemy? Hardly the way we look at it. Maybe Penn State, but we plan to never go to that filthy place. We enjoy getting the opposing fans perspective of their team and our team, particularly pregame and half time.

I will never, ever, EVER understand not wanting to sit with YOUR fellow fans when on the road. I don't care how bad the seats are, TBH.

Let me ask you this. When you're sitting amongst the great unwashed are you comfortable enough to stand and scream your head off for RU? I'm not, when I'm among opposing fans (admittedly that's only happened once that I recall) and I love to stand and scream for RU. So, that's one of the main reasons I sit with RU fans.

Despite my boisterous board persona, I'm fairly reserved at games. Except the BC game was a squeaker, their fans thought they had us, and I got a little excited, and the scary BC woman looked like she wanted to and could have hurt me. Wisconsin was a different story. I celebrated a first down and a big play, and the Wisconsin fans (a very nice bunch) chuckled at my enthusiasm and said something like "good play." I guess I know how to blend and befriend. 😃

I am a Rutgers fan home & away. I have screamed my head off for them in a suite at Nebraska & in the indoor section of the club seats at Michigan as well as in the RU section of Iowa & OSU & amongst the fans at psu & Wisconsin. No one has ever given me a hard time. Opposing fans have been great to sit amongst.

The couple of times I was amongst opposing fans my screaming loudly for RU didn't go over well with the people I was around and it got a bit confrontational. My guess is there's a testosterone element to it, as I've seen the same thing with opposing fans at RU games getting into it with our fans. I'd simply rather not have that be a possibility and would rather celebrate great plays and commiserate on bad plays with fellow fans.

If I’m traveling to an away game, I’m not sitting in bad seats

Hell, even at home games I’m not sitting in bad seats

I’d prefer to be amongst fellow Rutgers fans, but not at the expense of ducking airplanes or being 6 miles away from the field

No ever had problem with opposing fans, as most are cool as long as you’re not going bananas or being obnoxious

To each their own though

I wasn’t talking about ā€œclub seatsā€ you ****ing retarded mental midget.
You're seriously still using this slur for people with intellectual disabilities? In 2024? You should be ashamed of yourself, as should those who've allowed this post to stay up for almost 24 hours. Disgusting.

EDIT: In response to the hateful bigot @AreYouNUTS' below response, here's a link to a campaign from the Special Olympics. The word he used is most definitely still regarded as a slur.

People from NJ love to complain.

When they see the prices other schools charge along with their parking situations and money it takes to play at this level, like at SC, their heads are going to spin.

But yea, NJ is the biggest complainer state I've ever seen. It's ingrained in the DNA there.

It’s true, but even more important to Shelby is having a good view while spending a lot of money traveling to road games. What’s the point of going without getting a good view ?If it was about camaraderie, Shelby would attend a watch party locally.

This guy follows me around like a 12-year old child....he has registered over 200 monikers in the last few years....HE'LL REGISTER 3-10 NEW MONIKERS OVERNIGHT then make "sad" or "angry" faces for EVERYTHING I POST. - regardless of whether it's factual or otherwise - while "liking" any and every post of a poster who even slightly disagrees with my opinion OR posted FACTS!!!! He calls me out on OTHER SCHOOL'S BOARDS....so pardon me if I had a moment of weakness and called him out his incessantly psychotic actions. .... one Saturday morning I literally woke up to over 70 sad or angry faces with which he responded to my posts. Most of which were to actual facts and not opinions lol!

Thank you and have a nice day.

BTW - ZERO need to inject politics into this thread (especially since your guy has made more racists comments, over his 50-years in DC, than almost anyone....yikes)

Are you referring to me ? Nope. Wrong guy. Never once used an emojii, posted on another school's site about you or anything/anyone else and I don't rotate user names. Shelby is a straight-shooter. Your use of that word is a disgrace and should embarrass you immensely.

No, no no I’m not referring to you!!!! Just giving you a description of the idiot. I’ve been dealing with for the last couple of years posing as ā€œhello old friendā€ earlier in this thread. Sorry if that was confusing. My fault. I could have been more clear.
