Probably would've been better served playing Towles, but our receivers are awful. Also lost our two best backs.

Well anytime you have three or four drives where you can't or don't move the ball at all, you should try the other quarterback, if he fails, so be it. Barker was struggling big time and some experience might have helped there, but no, this staff is going to be as stubborn to yank a q-back as they were to try another one, it was clear in the third quarter we were not going to be able to move the ball.

The staff did not put Barker in any position to succeed today. UL has a pretty solid D, and once our two top RBs went out Barker was screwed. He also could have benefited from playing the whole game against Vandy against a solid D to prepare him for today. The coaches also didn't seem to care much about getting his confidence up against Charlotte either. All those rushing yards we had look pretty irrelevant now. All that said, Barker was pretty awful in the 2nd half, and some of it was on him. He was rattled and it showed. Bad throws, rushed throws, no pocket presences, etc.

But, but, but it's not Barker's fault! He's a four star so he's got to be great! It's all Towles' fault :( when Barker loses it's everyone else's fault..when Towles loses it's his fault and his alone

Let's be real, neither QB is very good.
Receivers drop more balls then they catch, regardless who the QB is.
Ad in horrible O_Line play.

Honest question

How many drops did we have that were good thrown balls. Remember badets, but also had a pass behind him he knocked up and baker caught. (Three were screen passes)

he's bad

UK QB recruits have a horrible track record, who would come here. Haven't had a good QB in 8 years, and that was one year of Woodson

He had some drops but also plenty of terrible throws. Just like Towles, he shows no moxie, no feel for the position.

Watching Mich St play Penn St. Listen to the anouncers. Get the ball out in 2 seconds or you are screwed vs Mich St. It is us against ANYONE, yet we still try deeper, longer developing routes. Horrible playcalling leads to horrible QB performance. Neither QB gets any help from the coaching staff. Simply awful.

I'm not sure Kentucky can win with a pocket passer until they get a line that can block... Period!

They may need triple option QBs so they can run away from the rush we see every gawd-damnned game!

Barker did well today with what he had to work with. Which is the same terrible o line Towles had to work with.
Plus if you count the six drops by the receivers then he's 13-21. Not bad

The QB draws and the dropped balls had to make the guy wonder what the heck was going on. He appeared to make decent decisions most of the time and did not throw any int's.

Neither QB had a chance this year. Bad OL, and too many drops. Good news is that most of our skill players are sophomores and freshmen and will be back. Hopefully they will show improvement next year.

I'm not sure how after the first quarter can you say anyone on the UK side played well. Neither QB is consistent, but the problems you mentioned haven't and won't disappear until you get the players who do it better.

Obviously Towles has the stronger arm. Barker couldn't get the ball downfield very well after that first good throw to Johnson. And Barker's decisiveness wasn't shown today as he held the ball repeatedly when he should have thrown it away. Its easy to see why Patrick was named the starter. It seems that a combination of things hurt Towles during the season. First, he clearly locks on to his 1st receiver. 2nd, he, until today, held the ball too long. When he goes out there and is a gunslinger he is outstanding. But for some reason this season he didn't exhibit that. ????

Both QBs are average at best, but let's face it - our O-line is deplorable. They can't even protect against a 4 man rush. That coach must go.

You can't expect much more than we gave today. This is a classic example of no depth when you get your #1 and 2 running backs hurt. The defense was on the field entirely too long. They looked like they were all tired in 3rd quarter.

To add to the above problems, our receivers didn't have their best game. It was only the second start for red shirt freshmen Barker. The offensive line did a good job the first half, then went back to their old ways.

Considering that Louisville picked up their effort in the second half, it was too much for UK to overcome.

The combination of all these deficiencies has bugged us all year. Untll we can recruit some depth, and have fewer injuries we will hard time with the established programs. I have confidence we will do just that. jmho

Minus a pick and relaaaxxx , Barker was no worse than Towles . Given that you play the future , Towles plays like a four year freshman .

I'm right here....

Barker will be fine if we get rid of Schlarman and get a decent O-Line. Of course, you don't understand that.

You're wrong, most on here understood that when Towles was QB. The drops, the penalties, and the lack of pass protection doesn't allow a QB to be very consistent. Drew was being chased so often sometimes that even he had ansty feet and he's usually very calm in the pocket. And concerning Schlarman, we do need to remember that Swindle and West were not his recruits and we know young linemen get eat up in SEC play. And if they all come, we do have some help coming for the oline.
