Slight edge to Sha because of his passing ability. If he had more talent around him it would have been scary good.
Yeah, I remember thinking what a shame it was that Holloway couldn't have stuck around another year to lead that 2000-01 team, regardless of Barrett. I think that team lacked senior/upperclassman leadership and no one would've had it more than him. To me, definitely the superior player to Andre, with all due respect to him, too.

Barrett could really get to the rim and score when we needed him to. Holloway's passing was great though... too bad the bigs had butterfingers.

As good as Holloway was, and that's VERY good. This surprised me.

Sha was a better passer, Dre was a better scorer. Barrett is one of my all time favorite Pirates but they are so close in stats and career results. Dre is also just behind Sha in career assists with 662.

I would go Barrett bc of his shooting and smoothness to his game..

But Shaheen had an edge at competitiveness which I love. He was better at willing his team to victory and overall drive you need to win games as an underdawg.

I would go Barrett by a hair. Bottom line though, you couldn't go wrong either way.

Two of my all-time favorites. Sha, the all-time assist leader would have had a ton more if he wasn't passing to the likes of Kelland Payton, Jacky Kaba, Bayonne Taty and Charles Manga. All good guys I'm sure but none known for their soft hands. Very frustrating to watch so many great passes bounce off the chests and hands of those mentioned above.

Yes, the EG team needed leadership. TA had an open practice their frosh year, and I remember telling myself maybe it will be better is shine is actually better than dre. Then the practice started. Not close of course. 00-01 looked like it would live up to expectations, and then the bottom fell out, I guess at that GU game when punches were thrown in the locker room.

Sha or Dre? You pick one, I'll take the other.

After the PJ years, the doldrums got here fast, and Sha putting on the SHU cap on the Mike Quick show was a beautiful thing to see.

While I love Sha, I'd have to go with Barrett slightly over him.

This! The guys with whom Sha played, were either not ready for the feed or when ready, were simply incapable of consistently catching his passes. The stats seem to favor Barrett. Just the eye test - I give the slightest of edges to Holloway.

Loved Barrett’s first step. Sneaky quick. And a terrific leader who never rattled on the court. Loved Shas vision and fire. If he had a better team around him his stats would have been ridiculous. Looking at the pure numbers it’s Barrett. But Sha had incredible heart. Hard to pick honestly but I say Barrett by a half a hair.

The way I would look at it, if I had a great starting lineup and just needed a point guard I would take Shaheen.
