I'll post this every Sunday

1 Rick Pitino
Really don't like this guy but Repole's money speaks

2 Danny Hurley
Beat up Nova yesterday otherwise Hurley would have dropped

3 Kevin Willard
Had his chance but he has to beat one of the top 2.

No coincidence that the above are the big spenders re NIL. With UConn and SJU at the top and Nova close behind.

Willard should be eliminated.
It’s Pitino. He’s done an amazing job. They will likely finish 18-2, or 19-1. He lost Richmond and reigning BE POY RJ Luis. I know the BE is down this year, but they are better. I expect them to make the sweet 16 at worst

Holloway should be here but as a distant 4th.

No one else deserves any mention.

Not a runaway yet Dick. He still has to beat UConn on the road. If he does then yes.

For weeks now, I've said that if Hurley or Pitino go 18-2 or 19-1 in the league, whoever has the better record of the two is getting the COY award. If they tie, it will probably go to Hurley because Pitino won last year and because SJU was the slight favorite to win the league ahead of Uconn in the preseason coaches poll (though, interestingly, Uconn was the Vegas favorite to win the league, not St. John's, and i know this because I bet Uconn preseason at +125 to win the Big East -- SJU was about +165 if I recall).

If both of them end up in the 17-3 range, which is possible, Willard is in the mix IMO, especially because that means he probably wins the second SJU game).

Let me raise this one:

Who did the worst coaching job in the Big East this season? I land on English, followed by Cooley. If you go by preseason polls, Marquette has a huge drop from where they were projected, but I think that was in retrospect a massive miss by most everyone built off Shaka's recent success at Marquette and figuring the train would keep chugging along even though they had so little returning from a production standpoint.

Yes, but what does that say about Creighton, Georgetown, Providence and even Marquette. All viewed as having significant NIL resources.

We win the last 3 and throw Sha into the mix. He already has Cooley's vote!
Yes, I realize how remote that is.

1. Smart
2. English
3. Cooley
I think that is a fair argument because of where Marquette was picked 5th preseason. To me, the records are close enough where I put the other two ahead of him, because I think everyone was just dead wrong in projecting Marquette with so little production returning beyond Ross and Gold, and having not gone to the portal at all, relying instead on continuity and young players to make significant leaps.

English. Had the most talent of those 3.
FYI

2025-26 Big East Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Poll

Providence 64 points
Marquette 60 points
Georgetown 57 points

I chose Smart because his record by far is the worst overall in the conference. 9-18 4-12

Hard to see Pitino winning it now, but they are likely still gonna finish first in the BE.
1a. Hurley
1b. Pitino
3. Willard - done a nice job but can’t win going 0-4 against the best teams
4. Holtmann

After last night's embarrassing loss at UConn Pitino is no longer in the discussion. Between Willard and Danny and my money is on Willard.

Smart had a terrible year but he has 2 freshmen and a sophomore in his starting lineup that are playing very well and are building blocks.

Cooley has talent but his performance as HC has been poor since he left Providence. Feels like he's checked out.

English has an offense that can score with anyone but they don't defend. The unruly fanbase is still engaged but they want him out.
