Most here are too young to remember him. But he broke the heart of young Halldan many, many years ago.

I never to this day saw a team dominate a World Series and lose the championship like the Yankees did that year.

The 1960 World Series saw the Pittsburgh Pirates defeat the New York Yankees in 7 games (4-3), famously winning despite being outscored 55-27.

The Pirates won games 1 (6-4), 4 (3-2), 5 (5-2), and 7 (10-9), while the Yankees won games 2 (16-3), 3 (10-0), and 6 (12-0).

I still have that nightmare of the ball going over Yogi's head into the stands.

Maz was a good guy. Much better fielder than hitter. Homer in 1960 more dramatic than Bobby Thompson's blast in '51 because of the growth of TV.
As I said, a really good guy..... but not a Hall of Famer. Yogi was in left field. Gil Macdougal's last game as a Yankee.
