Hall of Fame coach explains why Seton Hall is ‘dangerous’
Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley Sr. weighs in on what makes Seton Hall so 'dangerous' right now.
dont you get it? Bob is trying to soften us up so maybe Dan has a chance in nwk.Spot on but all the sudden hype worries me..
This is exactly how I feel. I know there have been several posts that highlight how Kansas State played poorly and NC State was overrated and then how USC blew a big lead at home…(without their best player)we shot over 33% from 3 once in the past 4 games - not counting ccst. we often shoot great for a few minutes then cool off. which is one of the things i loved about maui and k st. good wins but none featured out of character shooting
I'm as #TeamSha as anyone, but after a year like last year, with a team full of new guys who were largely unknown to most posters here, I think it's natural and reasonable to rationalize -- or at least try to -- the early success we've had so far this season. I don't think it's because there isn't anyone enjoying it, but a lot of us are still sifting our pans, trying to discern fool's gold from the genuine thing. It's a defense mechanism to prevent us from getting hurt later if the team takes a nose dive. This is exactly how I feel. I almost find that some posters have a hard time with success (instead of SHU — and KW— having a hard time with it).
A couple of years ago we complained hugely how we missed the NCAA’s due to a miserable OOC record.
Well, a win against Rutgers and now the OOC will help us this year.
it’s nice to have some confidence going into conference play for a change.
Exactly, we have taken the heart of both NC State and Kansas State.I'm as #TeamSha as anyone, but after a year like last year, with a team full of new guys who were largely unknown to most posters here, I think it's natural and reasonable to rationalize -- or at least try to -- the early success we've had so far this season. Personally, I think I've seen enough to honestly believe we've got a pretty good team that is going to be worth watching all winter. There are always ebbs and flows in a 20-game Big East season, but I can see how our style of play made it look like Kansas State played poorly or that NC State looked flat or whatever. Some of that is our team imposing itself on those other teams.
So I sort of get this. As a lifelong sports player as well as a fan, I get the superstitious/heart protected approach.I'm as #TeamSha as anyone, but after a year like last year, with a team full of new guys who were largely unknown to most posters here, I think it's natural and reasonable to rationalize -- or at least try to -- the early success we've had so far this season. Personally, I feel exactly like that. I was just trying to shed some light on the phenomenon of disbelief that is still present here. If we keep winning, others will come along. So I sort of get this. As a lifelong sports player as well as a fan, I get the superstitious/heart protected approach.
But there’s a point where you need to call a spade a spade. Right now, this team is creating an identity that is what Sha has wanted since he began. At this point in time, you have to allow him that.
But—at the same time—just because this team has had a good opening run doesn’t mean they’ll roll through the Big East even in a down year.
And just from a fan’s perspective, what the hell are we doing if we can’t have some fun with winning for a change?
