Totally agree. What an idiot? If I was on Twitter, I would offer to bet him $10 grand on it

Why do you say he's a big fan? Katz is a big fan of the program - doesn't look like Wachtel is at all to me.
He retweets Geo and Ron, he follows the program and wants them to succeed. He just happens to fashion himself a bracketologist so he talks about RU in the tourney more than an any other program - by far. He’s practically a Rutgers centric expert - and less of a critic than many “fans” on this board.

I think what he's trying to say is... We're now likely in, a win against Purdue leaves no doubt with potential bid stealers lurking etc.

But yea, he's getting on my nerves too
That's not what he said 2 to 3 days ago.....said RU vs Michigan was an elimination game.....which was 80% the case for Michigan, not for RU.....he tried to say RU was in must win to get in.....now it's "beating a NIT team, doesn't matter".

We won by TWELVE frigging points on a neutral court.....miss me with that BS....!!

He is now in the "unmentionable " category, exclusively held by CBS sports fraud Jerry Palm....that's high end fraud status when you get mentioned next to Jerry Palm....

No more air space or mentions for me, stop apologizing for frauds who change their stories 3 times a week.....!!

Guys just trying to do his job and this is what he thinks. He isn't saying we're not in he's just saying we're not a lock. Remember even in 2021 most people thought we were in 8 or 9 and we ended up at 10. If most people think we're at 10 or 11 now who is to say that the committee doesn't have us a spot below in Dayton or whatever even outside looking in.

He’s not saying we’re not in. He’s saying we are in much better shape now but there are still teams currently behind us that can pass us in the pecking order if they keep winning - either via at large or possible bid stealers from major conferences. Anyone in the 10-11 seed range can’t be deemed 100% safe until the results play out.

it was an elimination game...Michigan was eliminated.

BAC has the math....maybe at 11:59 we were 35% chance with a loss and 90% with a win. I don't think we moved up more than 2 spots. If we lose to Purdue, all things equal, we probably go back to where we were before the Michigan game.

Wachtel can suck it. Oh right Brad, all Rutgers has to do now is beat the #5 team in the country on a neutral court to ensure we get in? Oh really Brad, is that all? Why didn’t you say so! Idiot.

Well, probably slightly better position since Michigan was one of only a handful of teams we are competing with for those last spots.

Brad sucks!!
He keeps harping about our quad 3 losses. But losses to Seton Hall, Temple, and Nebraska are not resume crushers.
Temple has beaten good teams, including Houston.
Seton Hall won by 20+ at Providence
Nebraska finished 9-11 in conference. Not all quad 3 losses are the same. These aren’t terrible teams. Teams we should beat, yes, but not losses that should keep you out. We’ve beaten a ton of good teams.
This prick also doesn’t mention our road win at Purdue though.

This is the issue! He looks silly and that he was expecting/wanting RU to lose and now backtracking. Plus teams we were competing for bid, Michigan and Wiscy lost. Lost some respect for him after most recent tweet. Not sure what he’s thinking.

Some of these guys don’t like to admit they were wrong on their bracket predictions for fear of losing out on followers

The thing is they don’t care if they’re wrong. Like meteorologists. It’s an inexact science and they know they’ll be wrong a lot.

Don’t let it bother you.

Lots of overreactions in this thread.

Wachtel said after the NW loss that the RU-UM loser would be eliminated, but he also said that the winner was NOT guaranteed to be in.

This tweet is consistent with his prior comments, and is also accurate in terms of what the COMMITTEE will think.

I think we have a better road/neutral court record this year, which seems to be pretty important.

I don’t think there’s a realization on this board that what bracketologists think has ZERO impact on what will happen,

Again, relax, enjoy March and what happens will happen
