Another thread locked down as people do want to debate issues. People who have no inclination to discuss such matters never have to see it if there is LOTS board. Time to bring it back.

Wasn't our call. On3 told JD they would not allow the site.
Disagree…why does RU have a Current Events board on their On3 platform? JD admitted he wanted no part of it.

It’s funny that the same two or three posters that used to hijack the LOTS threads with second grade targeted behavior, do it here anytime you start a sports post that has adjacent social implications.

It’s too bad because there were some smart and experienced posters and there were a lot of good discussions, knowledge share and debate. EV’s, healthcare, investment advice, travel, books, etc. All gone along with dozens of good posters that disappeared or rarely post.

I'll reach out to JD again. But not sure it's going to matter. On3 told him no originally when he asked.

While I did enjoy OT discussions back when we had an LOT board, at this time, today, I have no interest. Our political arena is a cesspool, and I see no reason to think we are any different than the rest of America. Both sides swing way to far.

The RU board is a complete cesspool, you don't want one.

I guess I have a different view.

First of all, if you don't care for a LOTS board, you don't have to read it or participate in it.

Second, the RU CE Board is a cesspool, but it's always been a cesspool...even their MBB and MFB forums are awful, but that's on the moderators. There are no rules and I almost think they encourage the behavior.

Third, I agree the extremes on both sides take the air out of the room in politics, the MSM and social media. But does that mean that you give up on finding balanced sources or discuss differences (or learn from each other?). I'm not interested in being the victim to extremes.

There are balanced and moderate news sources (like Axios or NewsNation), or you can use that $1,000 computer we have in our pockets get our news. I go back to LOTS and felt there were a wide spectrum of views and opinions and the discussions were mostly respectful (less a few that were only capable of hurling insults or carpet bomb tweets). For instance, I disagree with merge and cern on many issues, but respected their POV. When we give up the forums to discuss like adults to the children, we've lost. And it's one of the reasons the traffic (and $$$) on this board has plummeted. Dan has done a great job upholding the standards on this board by locking threads, warning and cancelling members when necessary. Just do the same with LOTS and it'll be fine.

Go Giants!

Yes, I can just ignore it, and if it was resurrected, I would not object. I just see no reason to think that we are the one anonymous group that would avoid the bs that fills every other messaging platform.

Imo, back under Rivals, the RU board was tons better than ours. Far more informed posters on both sides. I actually became friendly with a rightwing poster due to our divergent views, RU78College. Tragically, he died a very early death. Good man was he.

We are all the victims of extremes from both sides. This has happened already.
