Here's the link. Didn't realize he was in his fifth year with the Terps.

Concluding paragraph from the article:

The Terps already have an array of outlandish uniforms. Now, they need the type of explosive talent that has made Oregon a national brand and program. It will be the job of the next coach to build toward that goal. Expect a big, splashy hire with the next coach having an offensive background. The next leader of the Terrapins must “move the needle” if Maryland truly wants to battle the big boys of the Big Ten.

So basically it will be a further enhancement of the idea of UM as the "University of Under Armour"

I agree with the thought that the beginning of the end was the 2nd half vs RU. Maryland football is a much more of a mess than RU right now. Their game vs WVU was one of the worst efforts I've seen in a while.

The big difference between Maryland and Rutgers is that the players love Flood. There were reports on this board that Edsall did not have he support of players. They had to get rid of him if that was the case. We've also been bowling under Flood, including blowing out UNC last year, while Maryland has been struggling. Apples and oranges comparison.

Hard to understand how this is a shrewd move.... unless the atmosphere around Edsall was so totally toxic that entire team was on the verge of quitting- and yesterday's showing did not seem to indicate that ...
if Maryland has to elevate a current assistant coach - it leaves them in the position of having to finish the season with a crew of lame-ducks ... and if the intention is to get a 'glamour' name coach - the current staff is going to be focused on figuring out where they will be working next year.
Who will tend to the care & feeding & completion of the 2016 recruiting class? What can anybody tell them - other than "it will be somebody special" - but probably none of the current staff...

Maybe Maryland has a replacement in mind who can join the team very soon? How many "glamour" ... or "semi-glamour" or simply "notable" candidates are currently in a situation where they could join the team in the next month ?

The reason it is being done immediately is because the situation with the donors and fan base is getting worse by the hour...

I agree. What does Maryland expect fired coaches to do? Say "Okay fine but I will still get our team fired up and ready for our opponent"? More likely they are going to say F you Maryland.

Rockin Randy deserved this after the way he treated his playing at Uconn when leaving. Karma.

He was never worth what they were paying him. I'd fire the AD too.
