This summer everyone was predicting the program was toast and should think about dropping back to FCS. Sports Illustrated had an article and named Sacred Heart The Best football program in State. I cant stand UConn but you have to give them credit for such a turn around from how last season went

They don't deserve any credit. Perhaps Mora deserves credit. If he has another good year, he will bolt for greener pastures and UConn will be back to square 1.

Of course they deserve credit . It’s sad that our team stinks so much we have threads like these
That's YOUR narrative. Rutgers football team does not "stink so much." Toughest division in college football with a tough year with injuries. It happens.

UConn does not deserve any credit. They sold their souls for basketball. One flash in the pan year does not turn the program around. The loser mentality on this board and invented reasons to mock Rutgers are comical.

they are still in deep do do as far as football--we are tons better off
Better off how ? Revenue ? No because there are no profits and all we bring in is spent. Same as there.

Winning ? No, LOL. Bowls ? no. Would we even beat them ? Maybe. That’s all we have. But Do you see Houston Texans fans bragging they would beat Alabama and Georgia ? Hardly.

Whether Mora leaves or not, they can afford to replace him. We can’t afford to replace ours.

Relative to the conference, competiton and the future, they are in a better place.

They have a real Coach. Makes a difference.
Hard to believe Yukon has passed us by.

Relative to their conference, they sure did. No doubt at all. Schiano’s program is a perennial B10 bottom feeder. Also no doubt.

It always seems to “happen”. We have stunk in this league since joining . Our claim to fame is 3-5 in 2014.
Being in a tough division is not an excuse. We chose this.

Schedule. Schedule. Schedule.

We are in the B10, and it matters for academics and every sport.
Sure, it’s far better for the university to be in this conference. No one disagrees. But UConn has a more competitive football program. Can’t disagree with that either.

Fresno State is a somewhat impressive win.

For those of you fawning over Yukon, here's a great place for you to congregate:

Rivals >> UConn Report >> UConn Football
UCan't getting blown out by mediocre Marshall. Sure some of the board losers will say "when was the last time RU won 8 games."

Apparently, UConn players are fighting each other. Yeah, they have passed "us" by. Give me a break.

Marshall had wins against Norfolk State, Gardner Webb, James Madison, Old Dominion, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State. Marshall did beat Notre Dame. Only two of those teams had winning regular season records.

This. And what progress over the last year and a half ? We were outscored 158-19 in the last 4 losses of 2021 … we did beat a hapless Indiana team in the middle of those 4 losses. Something to hang our hat on.And 2022 was disaster. Yukon would beat us this year. All they need is one Touchdown, game over.

Listen tons of teams have passed us by.

But let’s slow the roll with UConn =had one barely decent year - barely qualifying - with a crap schedule

Not really. Same pool of teams vying for bowl eligibility. It’s not a good thing accept being non competitive due the schedule every year. Schiano is paid a Big10 salary to win, not to make excuses.

Multiple propositions can simultaneously be true:
  • What UConn accomplished this year is noteworthy, although unlikely to be sustainable.
  • A case can be made that this year, they had a better TEAM than we did, although I personally do not think so.
  • The notion that their PROGRAM has surpassed ours, as suggested in this thread, is laughable and unworthy of further comment.

GS is the lowest paid B10 head coach. He's probably about average or below average in the ACC salary range.

Voice of reason. Our self loathing fanbase is very sad. It's not shocking we have hardly any donors.
