Also, shouldn’t Felt have had it figured out how they were going to compensate season ticket holders for the 3 games at Walsh before releasing the schedule? Instead we’re back to meandering about “thinking” of ways, SMH.

I love the “coach’s mentality” talking point, lmaooo. So is also Sha’s fault?

You mean there is not another arena in N. Jersey bigger than Walsh that they could have played the games in? Actually just about all the schools in the area have bigger seating than Walsh! Sad.

Nothing says big-time athletics more than having to rent out another schools gym.

Logistics for scheduling in Newark have been a bigger problem than usual the past couple of years.

It doesn't help that because of the Maui trip they built in a week on either end after cramming in five games in 16 days to start. It would have been nice to have played on December 9 or 10 in Newark (dates with no events currently listed) rather than play three Walsh games.

No dobut scheduling always going to be an issue at Pru. But has schedule logistics been more difficult, or is it another stubborn Sha action that he needs to play game on a certain day? My thought it is a little of both, especially when reading comments by Felt in Carino article.

We have a tiny gym, a tiny campus, and many others issues. And we play in one of the best basketball conferences in the nation, and at times have been real good. That is the beauty - the miracle - of SHU hoops for me. The thought of us in a major conference never dawned in my while in school. Then we joined the BE and we were embarrassingly awful, then a little better and a little better - till we were the best in the nation. Lots of good teams over the years and a bucket full of great moments/memories. All from my little alma mater!

As per Google:

The Prudential Center in Newark, home to the NHL's New Jersey Devils and Seton Hall University's men's basketball team, can hold 18,711 people for basketball games.
Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City has a capacity of 10,500.
The CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton has a capacity of 8,600.
Jersey Mike's Arena (formerly Rutgers Athletic Center) in Piscataway has an 8,000-seat capacity and is home to Rutgers University's basketball teams.
The Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood has a capacity of 7,000.

None of those after the Rock are good choices. You think students aren't willing to take the 15 min bus ride to Newark, they're not doing an hour + to Trenton.

Would you prefer it to played at NJIT with a 3500 cap? That's a good look...

NJIT with a 3500 cap is more than double the 1300 cap at Walsh…no idea what the economics would be to do such an arrangement but my guess is probably not favorable. How many people are really going to come out and see Fairfield on a Monday night and CCSU on a random Wednesday in December? We might not fill that 3500…
In any case it’s a bad look but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sha would rather play at Walsh with proper rest than Prudential on short rest as alluded to by Bryan’s quotes in the article. With how our crowds looked towards the end of last season I understand Prudential being less accommodating for November/December games. Rutgers will probably be the only one where Pru makes money…

Soooo, my "thats a good look was sarcastic"... :)

You can't move this game to another school, especially an NJIT like school. you look worse than you do here. You play at Walsh and grit your teeth.

The nearest non-school arena is Trenton, which no one is going to travel to on a Monday night!

All this complaining is dumb. Everyone knows we're a tenant at the Rock, and not even the no. 1 tenant.

If this was purely a logistics issue with the Rock, then the Walsh tickets would be comped for season ticket holders in some sort of a raffle or donor-level setup. Pretty easy solve.

Major savings for the school by not playing at an empty Prudential Center plus the tickets/concessions for 3 games at Walsh. Plus Sha likes the competitive advantage there.

Season ticket holders got 14 Pru games last year, 14 this year.

Seems very obvious why there are 3 Walsh games getting played. Feels pretty insulting to blame it all on logistics and Sha's rest preferences.

That's a poor non conference schedule. It does nothing to generate any added revenue. Maybe it saves some money playing the 3 Walsh games against terrible teams by lowering the cost for the buy. But no marquee home game other than Rutgers and the 6 Buy games avoid any tougher opponents from the A-10 or Ivy.

At least they got the K-State home and home for next year but no good neutral-site games or anything that will pay them extra. Guess they turned down the Princeton matchup and couldn't work out another opponent in the Never Forget Tribute and couldn't work anything else out in NYC.

Last year they played a Neutral site game in Missouri's back yard which Missouri has not returned the favor. And we had the ridiculous Neutral site game in Hofstra's territory. The fact that we took those games shows how far we have fallen. Providence, for example, will play 2 local Neutral site games at Mohegan Sun against P4 opponents. Those are the type of games we need to bring in revenue.

This is so true. We punched our way to the top of the heap with PJ and just had a very good run with Willard. I’m down the shore under the weather so I watched the 1991 S16 game versus Arizona on YouTube. Great memory but what was exhilarating was how SHU was talked about and perceived by basketball commentators. We really were at the apex of the sport having beaten Duke, UNLV, Indiana, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah, Kansas, Kentucky and others during that time. Don’t see us getting back to that level but have to find a way to get back to the Willard level.
