I think JK is the top team, no question. I see a lot of teams that could finish second. Biggest question is how far will Princeton fall this year?

I think Rosewood has a strong case for number two this year, they will be a tough team to stop. I think Lakewood, Rosewood, Princeton, and JK will be top four while Hobbton, SC, and ND stay in the cellar. Hobbton had an early lead on Midway last night and the parade was about to roll out in Newton Grove then Midway stomped any thoughts of an upset. Hobbton should be improved defensively those young guys from last year will have an impact. James Kenan defensively will just be too tough. The Tiger defense looked revamped and fast coming with pressure from all angles against Southern Wayne last night. Speed is tough to stop on offense but the speed the Tigers possess on defense is scary this year.

rosewood 41-north johnston 20...tight game 1st half as the panthers jumped out quick. 20-13 at halve ... adjustments at halftime payed dividends as game was over with 7 minutes in 4th-(41-13) subs played out the rest. north johnston played a tough, good game and will make some noise this season. my eagles travel too spiveys corner too play a tough midway high school next friday night@ 7.00pm.

Northside-Pinetown beat North Duplin 20-12. Rebels still struggling on offense. They had five drives into Northside territory tonight where they came up empty, including two that died on the Northside 10.

The conference is starting to shape out a little more with respect to how the teams will align this season only two weeks left until it's time for conference play. After the third week this is how I see the conference shaping up, keep in mind I've only seen JK, Lakewood, and Rosewood play. The teams below don't represent the finishing order just who should be battling for those spots at the end of the year.

First Place: James Kenan just made a statement that they are the best team in the conference this past week, they played maybe the most complete game they have played since December of 2013. It will be tough for the rest of the conference to compete but there are still some strong teams fighting for second. Last year James Kenan was played tough by Princeton, Lakewood, and Rosewood.

Second/Third Place: Lakewood/Rosewood both teams are strong and play similarly to each other they have had some struggles against early opponents. They play hard nosed defense and like to finesse on offense. Lakewood has the greatest potential to beat James Kenan in the conference but Rosewood I feel is better than Lakewood this season.

Fourth/Fifth/Sixth Place: Hobbton/North Duplin/Princeton North Duplin has looked bad at times this year, Princeton too, and from what I've read and heard about those two is there has to be some urgency in their offenses to have any shot at disrupting those top three schools. Hobbton is a wild card I can see them finishing top three with the amount of success they have had early in the year but, they are still very young and look to contend more next season after getting adjusted to their new coaching and play style.

Seventh Place: Spring Creek for obvious reasons, they haven't done anything this season to make us think they will contend for a third tier spot.

Hobbton, ND and Princeton have combined to win as many games as Spring Creek has. SC has beat two teams they should have and lost to a team that will have one loss in November. I might be eating crow later in the year, but I don't see SC finishing last.

I don't see how SC has the depth or ability to compete with Hobbton, ND, or Princeton. ND has losses to an undefeated team a one loss team and a convincing win over South Lenior, Hobbton lost to a decent Midway team and have since won two games, Princeton has played two pretty good football teams themselves. East Carteret could have two losses or be undefeated they play in a tough conference and are likely to be in contention for a deep run in the playoffs. (But they aren't in the Carolina Conference so I will digress from talking about them)

History tells us that SC doesn't have a great chance at finishing outside the bottom of the conference. They have only beaten ND once in the history of the program. Hobbton/ND/Princeton have more experience and depth.

I won't argue your opinion because, well its just that. I will, however, state facts for you.

Fact- you haven't seen any of the above teams play.
Fact- Spring Creek has beat ND twice 2005 and last year.
Fact -Spring Creek has a JV team this year for the first time. So they do have more depth than they ever have.
Fact- History has nothing to do with Spring Creek in 2015. True history has not been kind to the Gators.
I watched JK play and they are the best team in the conference... Fact!

Like I said I before I don't think this Spring Creek team will finish last, but that's just my opinion. I have seen them play and I don't think this is Spring Creek from years past. They have a different toughness and a level of talent (very young) they haven't had in years.

I will not argue with your facts, except I have seen Hobbton, Rosewood, and James Kenan this year, but I don't believe that even if the Gators make it out of the cellar they will finish higher than sixth. Maybe I'm wrong and SC finishes 2nd that'd be wonderful. I just make predictions based on the opponents played and upcoming schedules, I hope that we can continue to watch very good football in the future from our beloved conference and teams.

The conference season opens up this week, very excited to see what this conference has in store.

James Kenan takes on Princeton in Warsaw, after last years late comeback for the Tigers this game will mean a lot to the Dogs, but the speed and tenacity of the Tiger defense is too Much James Kenan 35 - Princeton 7

Rosewood hosts Hobbton and after the nonconference performances by Rosewood I think they are the second best team in the conference with a big game looming for the Eagles next week they get a chance to flex the offensive muscle here. Rosewood 27 - Hobbton 7

Spring Creek travels to Salemburg to take on the Leopards and this game is interesting it's time for the Gators to prove me wrong from my early season doubts. Lakewood has looked pretty good and is poised to battle Rosewood and James Kenan for the top three this is going to be a fun one to watch looking forward to seeing Coach Lewis open the conference season. Lakewood 28 - Spring Creek 21

North Duplin closes nonconference play with Lejeune who has played more than half of the Carolina Conference members and will give a decent measuring stick for where the Rebels may pan out in the conference. North Duplin 13 - Lejeune 12

Good Luck to all the teams this week.

great post as always jeff friday!.... the rosewood-hobbton game may be played thursday night@ 7.00pm at rhs. ill find out tomorrow. when hobbton and rosewood clash...there have been some great games in the past and i know the wildcats will be ready. lakewood has lost 2 close games against very good teams and it will be a big test for the gators. princeton has been playing some good ball and are getting better and could be a..spoiler..in the cc. i think north duplin will win by 4 tds. my rhs eagles are getting better on defense and the next 3 games will shed some light as rhs host-hobbton...host-james kenan and then travel too salemburg(lakewood) for a huge game!!..

I think pretty much every eastern game has been moved up save for whoever East Duplin is playing, that's as of last night.
